We were nearby and I was in the mood for Mexican food so we thought weâd give it a try. I ordered the chicken enchiladas mole and chips and salsa bar (they have plastic baskets of chips stacked up which are not fresh, and a ramekin of salsa crudo so small you can only get a corner of a chip in - all for $4.50!) while she ordered the Huarache chicken. If itâs in their name she thought they should be good. She never found out. When our food came out, I got mine, but she got a plate of chicken mole. That she did not order. She neither likes or ever orders mole. When we told the server that, she said that was what we ordered. Only I heard her order Huarache chicken. The one who didnât was the guy at the register who takes the orders. Then in order to prove her point, the server brought out the ticket which only proves he typed in the wrong order. She told us she couldnât and wouldnât replace her meal. We sat there awkwardly waving flies away (both doors were wide open on a gloomy, cool day) while I picked at my enchiladas. The mole had a stale, musty taste, and the plate of food looked as gray as the sky. We got up and left $50+ of food on the table. Itâs the first time Iâd ever done that. I let them know I was not happy and would be writing a negative review. They simply did not care. Not a good way to run a business. Good news is that just a few miles away in San Rafael, Sabor a Mexico had a table for two just waiting for us. Unlike El Huarache Loco, this place is inviting and warm, service is friendly and respectful, and the food is appetizing, colorful, hot and delicious. And complimentary warm chips and salsa are brought out as soon as you sit down. Miles apart in more ways than one. We will never, ever go back to El Huarache Loco and will warn everybody we like to stay...
Read moreYes I agree with the other 1 star reviews that the food is not authentic and very expensive but this is Larkspur Landing... the reason I am leaving a review is because when I complained about their dry enchiladas made with stail tortillas, the person in charge did not offer me something else nor my money back -- so I asked for my money back and he offered me $10 on my $21 enchiladas because he said I ate the shrimp. I said I did not eat them ... I said that they were under the enchilada that I was showing him was dry and stail. He argued with me so in front of a line of people I flipped over the enchilada and started counting shrimp for him. He thought I would be embarressed. Nope. He was. Then he had to hold up the line to figure out my money back. If he had offered to fix it or offered something else on the menu, he could have kept my money and not had...
Read moreIâm a proponent of supporting local businesses so I was anxious to try them out. And, they have biria specials, which I love! My first meal came with a bone and 2 bay leaves and were somehow in the body of the meat. I choked on one of the bay leaves.
So, I wanted to give them another try and came home to a Tuesday taco special order which was not my order. I was resigned to just eat it but I tossed it as it was completely flavorless. I could not tell you if it was chicken, pork, pastor or whatever other protein.
I phoned the restaurant and spoke with one of the owners and told her of the situation. I apologized to her and told her that I didnât mean to be a bitxch but I thought for their prices that there would be more care with their food.
I guess she put me in my place and was offended that I said the word, twice. So much for giving them...
