Have you ever had a doughnut and you can’t stop thinking about it for days, weeks, months, later?!? 🙋♀️ Johnny Doughnut did that to me There are three locations Rafael, San Francisco, and the one we visited in Larkspur. When you step up to the window you’re faced with the dilemma of “which do I get and do I just get one?” We couldn’t just get one… over the three of us we got like 7 😅 whoops My favorite and the one I’ve had dreams about since is the crodough, basically their version of the cronut but they can’t use that name cus of rules or whatever. It’s crunchy and coated in sugar and connoisseur on the outside, soft and layered on the inside, AND filled with little pillars of custard. OH. MY. GOSH! Other favorites we tried and attempted to share were the apple fritter, the old fashion, and a few flavors of the Bismark (filled with wild berry jam or chocolate vanilla cream…. 🤤🤤🤤) Oh, and I can’t forget to mention they have a vegan donut and a wheat-free donut! I overheard someone say you can even get the custard filling in a cup if for some reason you are confused and want it without the delicious crodough. Don’t forget to add your favorite beverage on the side. I love that this local business pulls supplies from other local businesses including @centralmilling @clover.sonoma @msp_petaluma and @equatorcoffees

Read moreFirst of all, don’t expect to get a regular donut. I first ordered the classic glaze, and I must say that it was very disappointing. The donut was very thick. It was only glazed lightly on half. It tasted like baked potato bread. I decided to go back and ask for a replacement to try one of their other donuts, their customer service was great, they were very friendly, understanding, so they gave me a chocolate old fashion to try. The chocolate old fashion was tasty, and I enjoyed it, but it was very different from any other donut I’ve ever had. I think if I came in with my expectations being to try a fried dessert that was in the shape of a donut, I would’ve enjoyed it more. But because my expectations were to eat donuts, I was disappointed. I’ve eaten thousands of donuts at dozens of donut shops around the country, and this donut shop was very unusual. If you decide to try this place, make sure that you are not expecting your donut to taste like any donut that you’ve had before and keep an open mind about this type of dessert. I’m giving it four stars because the customer service was so great, they listened to my complaint, and happily provided a replacement...
Read moreWhen you are gluten free, you really miss things like doughnuts and cakes, so I was really excited to see the wheat free doughnuts on the menu. The area in Larkspur where this store is licated is abysmal at identifying gluten/wheat free items on their menus and it is frustrating.
I had the salted caramel chocolate wheat free doughnut, and it is almost as good as the wheat ones I remember. Thick, dense, chewy... it satisfied the desire and it was a really good-sized doughnut.
There were no prices listed anywhere and you have to ask when it is your turn to order. That's the only part I did not appreciate. Especially when you are not a local, and waiting in line. Put the prices on a chalkboard and change it hourly if need be,...
