Around the Christmas table, the discussion turned to times when we don't prepare our own food. At the top of the Santa's "nice" (not naughty) list for takeout in Las Cruces was Dion's on E. Lohman.
Dining inside works fine, the restaurant interior is spacious with much light through windows, but most of us in the discussion prefer instead the phone ordering in advance --- then driving up to announce the order made and having it be ready for pick up, on time, hot (if pizza or meatball subs) and ready to go.
Always the order and pick-up/drive-thru staff have been courteous and knowledgable, kind and helpful. I've never had an order not be prepared correctly, and others in the discussion today had similarly experienced only orders made and completed competently. The drive-thru staff also helpfully initiate asking about utensils and condiments, and supply as requested.
I'm especially fond of the Napoli pizza with the roasted red pepper pieces, and their pizza with green chile while spicily hot is a lovely New Mexican treat. Their subs come with fresh crusty bread, if you like that (instead of mushier bread as from the Subway chain). Extra sides of meatballs with sauce can be ordered for use over pasta at home or sliced to freshen up a slice of defrosted and microwaved pizza if you've ordered a size too large to eat at first sitting.
Some people like the salads. Word of mouth is positive on those offerings but I prefer to make my own salads so not speaking from personal experience.
Oh can I mention that their brownies are amazing for people who eat those on special occasions like birthdays? (Lots of sugar, but also very chocolatey to melt in your mouth from a velvety baked batter.)
Christmas consensus to continue supporting Dion's with our business in the New Year. One place we've come to count on for consistency. Thanks to Dion's and everyone who...
Read moreI am writing this review because of the service the restuarant manager, Dakota, provided my family. He was honorable and didnt charge me for another pizza on an online botched order. I cannot metabolize onions but my wife is able to. We ordered a full pizza, one half with ground beef (mine) and the other half with mushrooms, pineapple and onions (hers). Unfortunately the order was prcoessed with onions , along with pineapple and mushrooms being spread on the entire pie, plus ground beef on my own. After bringing this pizza home and discovering the discrepancy, I called Dion's to state I coulc not eat my portion. The phone was forwarded to Dakota, who quickly made arrangements to have our order modified, free of charge. When I drove thru their drive in, Dakota gave me two boxes, one with a half pie for ground beef only, the other with pineapples, mushrooms and onions for my wife's order. He was mindful that I not consume onions as I cannot consume them without digestive problems. It is service like this that separates the good from the great. Dion's on Lohman is great and Dakota is a...
Read moreI was invited to meet a couple of friends who are also Steinborn and Associates REALTORS, to have a little “lunch & learn” get together. They suggested Dion’s Pizza 🍕 which sounded good since I’d never had Dion’s at that point. Good sign was that there were quite a few people having lunch there when I walked in. Lots of booths and tables at Dion’s, pretty large place! The pizza 🍕 was some of the best pizza 🍕 I’ve ever had! At Dion’s you pick your table and go to the order counter, place your order and take your seat. They are quick to get your pie made, and bring it out to your table. Bottom line was it was delicious and quick! We covered the subject, shared some of my home search techniques, and shortcuts in a great environment for conversation with a great lunch! I will definitely be back, and bring my buyers with me when touring homes!🏠- Try Dion’s Pizza, you won’t be...
