If you're feeling tired, the world seems even crazier than usual and you'd just like to go home to family and have a great home cooked meal, this is the place to come. The atmosphere is warm and homey. You feel like you dropped over to a friend's house. The owners welcome you with warmth and friendliness. The food is indeed home cooked. What more could you want.?
I really like their prix and menu fixeé way of operating. Yes, $15 might sound like a lot, but it includes absolutely everything. That's ALL you'll pay, period. I happened to go on a Wednesday which is liver & onions day. I had iced tea, the entré and a dessert. It also comes with a roll & butter. The liver was cooked just the way I like it, flavorful and tender. It was accompanied with mashed potatoes, a rich gravy and string beans. I don't like string beans, but these tasted good. The dessert was a delightful pear cobbler flavored with almond which was perfect. I'm still remembering it even though it's been well over a week since I was there.
There's also lasagna on Tuesday. Call if you'd like to know the rest of the week's menu. They're also open for breakfast which is on the same price and menu fixeé system although less than the lunch price, depending on what you order.
The restaurant is located in a part of the Telshor Plaza that I didn't know was there. It's a little hard to find, but definitely worth the effort. You won't be disappointed! And once you've been there, you won't ever forget how to go back...
Read moreIt took us about 6 months to finally try this place, but when we did, it was worth the wait. We walked in and were seated immediately by the host/husband. As we waited and listened to the conversations of the table next to us and the owners, it was clear we had wandered into a place where you are treated as family. We even got a little teary-eyed looking around, as it reminded us so much of family members who have passed. The pride in service is clear, from Mother coming out of the kitchen to serve you herself to the linen table settings. The food is delicious. The first time we went, we had the lasagna special, and the second time, we had the BBQ special. Neither choice disappointed.
Note: if you decide to go, pay attention to the directions given. Google maps will try to direct you to the parking lot of the Hotel Encanto. You will want to go to the Telshor Tower Plaza with the entrance off of Telshor. Go up the hill, take a left between the buildings, and then a right to park in front of the restaurant. And do yourself a favor and don't be in a hurry. Look around before or after your meal at the many fun items for sale. I mean, really, a combined thrift/antique store and restaurant? ...
Read moreWe went around June 30th and had the pizza pot pie. My son, who is immunocompromised, got so sick that he ended up in the hospital. What happened is they didn't cook it for enough time. When I ordered they told me it would take 1 hour. I got there around 1 hour 15 minutes later. Then they told me they got so busy they hadn't even started our order. So I waited, didn't mind waiting at all. Well about 20 minutes later they were done. I went straight home and my son ate his. He woke up later vomiting. He vomited 3 times that night had horrible stomach cramps. He could not eat anything. My son being a sick guy to begin with, who sleeps with a bipap machine, ended up getting aspiration pneumonia from the vomiting. He has been in the hospital for a little over a month now. Just thought everyone...
