I came to the drive thru and saw they had a fiesta pack. 6 tacos and 6 burritos. Very excited because it was what I needed to feed a family of 8. I asked at the intercom if they tacos for the fieata pack had to be all hard shell or all soft tortillas. I wanted 3 and 3. They said yes and I proceeded to go to the payment window. I paid and received what I thought was what I ordered. When I got home, all I had were 6 tacos. No burritos. I checked the receipt and they only charged me for tacos. Not the fiesta pack. I called and said there was a misunderstanding and that we would be on our way to have this fixed. I'd be happy to pay the difference for the burritos missing from the order. Instead, on the phone, they told me that wasn't what I ordered and that i ordered the tacos and got the tacos. It was a battle back and forth over the phone until my mom stepped in to speak Spanish and explain that they misunderstood us and we wanted the fiesta pack with 3 hard shell and 3 soft shell with the burritos because that's what came with the pack. They told my mom that we didn't specify which burritos we wanted. (Red salsa or green salsa). My mom argued that we were never asked. The fiesta pack was $18.99 plus tax. I was charged $12 for the tacos and then another $12 for the burritos. They didn't have me pay the difference. They just made me pay $5 more. I didn't bother to argue because I had to get home to hungry people. Needless to say, it was disappointing to have someone not handle this the right way and to be over charged when I was trying to use, what i considered to be,...
Read moreThe employees were very nice but busy -- Taco Tuesdays brings in more people, I think.
My food was good, although the hard shell was broken for two of the three tacos I ordered. That happens but it could be my fault as I get my order to go. The Del Taco is usually what I order -- with a hard shell, beef, lettuce, shredded cheese and a smattering of tomato. It is a good standard hard shell taco and I was happy with the Taco Tuesday prices. You have to get hot sauce packets to add to your tacos (mild, medium and hot).
This time I also ordered the donuts and was pleasantly surprised. It was bite-sized and had a cinnamon-sugar coating like the churros. It was nice to have for a change and cost $1 for 5 pieces. It also hadn't been sitting around for too long so it tasted rather fresh.
There is a drive-through but I prefer to go inside to order my food.
This Del Taco location looked clean to me and the employees are busy on Taco Tuesdays. I'm not sure how busy it is on other days. The cashier had to take orders at the register and set out orders for those eating in and for take-out so please be a little patient. My order came up quickly but I ordered standard fare that was easy to put together.
All in all, I was happy with the...
Read moreI had never eaten at Del Taco before since Wisconsin -- and the Midwest, as far as I know -- doesn't have any of these restaurants. I only knew of their existence by references to them from "Big Bang Theory" and so, when I saw one within a few blocks of my son and daughter-in-law's apartment in Las Vegas, I decided to give them a try. To me, Del Taco strikes me as somewhere between Taco Bell and Taco John's -- more flavorful than Taco Bell and not quite as 'zingy' as Taco John's can occasionally be. The Taco shells were nice and crispy and were actually filled-up, something that I'm not really used to around home when it comes to Mexican fast food. There was actually so much cheese that fell out of my tacos and onto the wrapper that I needed to get a spoon from a cashier to scoop it all up...and no, that is NOT an exaggeration. It was nice to finally try this place but now that I know how good their food is I'll have to admit to being disappointed because there aren't any around here for me to patronize.
VERY good Mexican fast food, in my opinion...definitely...
