We hit this restaurant the second day after they moved to a larger location for a late lunch/early dinner after reading reviews about their food (as my kids love Thai food).
We were starving, so we ordered quite a few appetizers: the “World Famous Spinach Salad,” “Crying Baby Tiger” steak, “Pot Stickers,” and the “Crab Wontons.” My daughter also got an order of “Veggie Rolls” (I didn’t try those). The spinach salad is unique and not very salad-like. It consisted of tempura spinach with a lime dipping sauce (dressing) and chicken (which was such a small amount, I didn’t notice it was there). It was interesting to try once, but there are so many other items to choose from that I probably wouldn’t order that again. The “Pot Stickers” were good (what you would expect). The “Crying Baby Tiger” steak and “Crab Wontons” were our favorites out of the appetizers.
We each got an entree, fully planning on having leftovers for my daughter and SIL after I left. We ordered the “Massaman Curry” with chicken, an order of “Pad Thai” with chicken and a second order with shrimp.
Several of the desserts we wanted weren’t available. We all love “Mango Coconut Rice” but that is allegedly seasonal. They also didn’t have any “Thai Donuts” or “Banana Chocolate Beignets” so we settled for the “Island Bread Pudding” (which tasted great). I figured that would be enough dessert since we were all full from the rest of our meal, but my SIL wanted to try the “Coconut Ice Cream” which comes with sticky rice topped off with their house made coconut ice cream inside a hollowed out coconut which was tasty and Instagram-able.
The food we had was mostly tasty...the service was a tad slow and there were several dessert options not available which is why only 4 stars.
SECOND VISIT JULY 16, 2022 (8 PM on a Saturday)
We tried a few new dishes and everything tasted great. The “Citrus Steak Salad” was delicious but REALLY spicy for the wimp that I am. Our server suggested getting the dressing on the side for anyone needing less spice. My daughter and son in law got the “Panang Curry” with shrimp and loved it. We were also able to finally try their “Mango Coconut Rice” and “Thai Donuts.” With mangoes in season, this was probably the best mango sticky rice I’ve ever had! The donuts were also a surprise as they were soft inside and the sauce served on the plate was delicious. The bussers were efficient but the person taking orders throughout our meal was slow and hard to track down. The food gets 5 stars, but the overall service still...
Read moreWe were told about Nittaya's by one of the Hosts at the Rampart. We love Thai food. The place is in a strip mall and seemed to have enough parking. We opened the door and we're pretty impressed with the decor, tones and lighting. The Host or maybe he was a server was busy getting some other 6 top seated and then came to us. Friendly. He sat us off to the side, in the alcove, we weren't crazy about this spot, but I hate messing with seating. The main dining room looked amazing and inviting and we really wanted that. But oh well. We did sit next to this a huge wine cellar. I didn't see the wine list, I don't drink, but this was an impressive wine room. And the fact that the wall was decorated with the wine boxes of some of the best wines in California had me intrigued. So I asked for a sommelier. Maybe my wife would be tempted to have a glass or two if we found one to match our items. However, the response to asking for a sommelier was a look of confusion and the staff didn't know what that was. Oh well..no points deducted..just would have been a great touch. I now just figured the owner uses it for her personal.
Now the server and food. Ohhh my God!! Sooo good on both sides. Flavors that were amazing and fresh in the Soup ( lemongrass) we got some sort of tempura spinach thing that had this amazing sauce. We got Chicken Satay. Was ok. A little on the lets just grill it and get it out there side, the presentation was nice and the sauce and garnish was flavorful. We ordered Lamb. We though we ordered the dinner size, but relieved the Tapas size. Perfect..we had no room. Once again it was a grill item, and I'm not sure their grill is the strong suit for them. Over dressed but perfectly cooked with great flavors.
Our server was the cutest and friendliest and efficient we have had in a long time.
We now have a new favorite thai place. The prices are good. They seemd to have private rooms for parties, and the decor and cleanliness off the bathroom nice. They have a nice...
Read moreRather disappointed. for the higher than not.al price simply currys around $18, many to most dishes upward to $25, we all expected above average food (not just average, which is what it was). and for the mandatory 20% tip (because we had 5 adults and a 4yr old), also.kinda expected better service (such as not having to stand up.amd track someone down to get my tea refilled, or forgetting things on the order, etc, or at least an appology or offer of slight credit after serving undercooked pork... that i already bit into ! - rather than just saying it happens sometimes, and make a new order.
we.r visiting here, and this is the 2nd place we tried. the 1st was Weera Thai Restaurant in Chinatown. it was really excellent. the falvors were.perfect, details like the rice was hot and moist but not clumped, etc. (Nittaya's rice, for example, was clumpy, didn't meet my asian families picky standards as acceptable.)
we almost went back to Weera, but figured let's try another place - maybe vegas just has great thai food ! and Nittaya's was rated even higher than Weera.
sadly, this is an example of not always being able to trust ratings... for various reasons.
we tried a LOT of dished for us 5 adults, check came out to almost $250.after the mandatory 20% tip.
no one really liked any of it much with the exception of the fried spinach advertiser, which admittedly was pretty special, the papaya salad, and the crying tiger steak was really rib eye. though i wouldn't order the crying tiger steak again simply because I'd rather spend thst $25 at a regular steak house (if steak vs. thai) is what i was after.
if the prices were in line with the average quality and I'd say slightly below average service, I'd probably give it another star - to 3 stars.
conversely, I'd give the more affordable other thai place we tried Weera, 4.5 stars on the extremely...
