I was not impressed with Northside Nathan's today, where friends and I stopped for a bite. And it has nothing to do with COVID.
COVID has been quite a challenge for everybody, not just people in the service industry. I appreciate essential workers. I guess it's essential that we keep patronizing restaurants so they don't go under. That's customers looking out for restaurants, not restaurants looking out for customers. And the bigger picture is it takes a village-- continuing to patronize restaurants is one-way to do your part during a crisis-- to help keep the economy afloat so it performs a bigger function than a rude cashier in a pizza joint. But still.
I'm sorry, but COVID is no excuse to treat your customers like that, and I'm tired of companies milking it as an excuse for breakdowns of all aspects of service.
I am a big tipper any a very friendly customer, but I have expectations of being treated kindly in return and there is something called "customer service" that seems like a foreign concept to some yoo v people in service roles these days.
Most people don't care. As customers. A lot of people wouldn't even notice. But I'm not most people. It's important to me to feel welcome, and appreciated when I patronize a business. They don't have to do anything special to make me feel appreciated they just have to not ignore me when I thank them and when I tip them.
I am sure the employees are working very long hours and probably have a shortage of help like so many businesses right now. Some restaurants aren't even open because there's not enough people to work. That said, we--the patrons--are supporting them , not the other way around. And no matter how good the food is, if I get rude service somewhere, it really impacts my overall experience for the worse. . A warm friendly welcoming reception is almost as important as the food itself. So if they are essential workers, I just don't know. It's not essential that I eat pizza from a restaurant. It's essential to the owners that people keep supporting the restaurant. It's their livelihood.
I'm saying if and when I ever own a service business, I would make sure that all of my employees know how to treat customers. There are some teenagers there that do not smile, do not say, "thank you", do not make eye contact.
Even when you tip them, they do not acknowledge you . I just paid over $40 for a medium pizza, medium Greek salad and a Diet Coke.
I thanked you, not the other way around-- AFTER I tipped 15% , but you're not gonna reply? ? I wish I could've snatched back that tip right then because, come on now . You order from a window-- it's not like you get served there-- theyre just bringing your order to your table. You don't see them again.
.I really do not appreciate these tip suggestions all pre-calculated, being shoved in my face and then feeling like I'm a bad customer, or a stingy one. if I don't tip --even though it's not a full service restaurant. At least say, "thank you" when I say, "thank you", whether I tip or not.
This young lady tonight was awful, just awful. I'm the nicest person in the world so please don't treat me like that. Had I said something at the time, I'd get labeled a Karen but here's the thing: a Karen is an entitled, self-absorbed, miserable privileged and clueless woman who will stir up trouble, over react, complain, create a scene or incite drama unnecessarily. Who is never happy and enters a situation with a bad attitude going in. Someone who gets off on conflict, or thinks she is the Queen of Sheba and everybody else exists to serve her. We'll that's not me. It takes a lot to irritate me. But don't take my kindness for weakness, because now you've really insulted me.
I feel like an old lady saying this, but there used to be customer service. What happened? Encountering good customer service is like stumbling upon an incredibly rare artifact from a time generations ago.
I will not be go in there again...
Read moreDelicious pizza! It was my first time trying it last night and I love the options for the 15 inch pizza. You could accommodate several different taste buds because you can choose toppings for 4 sections.
Best thing about it was the crunchy sides and bottom of the pizza and the chewy center. How do they do that?
I waited about 15 minutes longer than the time I was given when I ordered it online, but I'm a really patient person so I understood. Plus, I like when it's fresh out of the oven. I ate a slice in the car!
One tweak they could make to the time estimate is to either overestimate the time it will be ready or give a time range of +15 mins. As a service effort, they could offer you a small complimentary soft drink or water, or a sample of garlic bread or a chicken wing or something while you wait. You might get people to add to their order this way.
One other thing to note is that in my comments of the order, I asked for sauce on the side and I didn't ending up getting it. I realized it after I left the restaurant and was at home. I guess I didnt need it! I do like addind sauce to my pizza though and I'm happy to pay for extra sauce, so if that was the case then they should have let me know. I honestly just think it was an oversight.
Looks like a nice place to hang out too as they have booths and a bar in the back. My order was a takeout. They close a little early, I think, for a Friday night.
Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of what I ordered but I'll...
Read moreVery frustrating pick-up experience. I ordered online for pick-up. When I arrived at the restaurant, the large banner outside said "call for curbside delivery". I called the number and was told to come in and pick-up, to which I replied okay, no attitude about the large yellow banner, just okay. I entered the restaurant and went to the pick-up window where I was told "there is only one line" and I was directed to the front of the restaurant where I stood behind 3 other customers trying to decide what to order while my pizza was just sitting on top of the oven. Once the 3 other customers were finished ordering, I approached the ordering window, gave my name and was given my pizza order that had been ordered for noon pick-up and was completely paid for with a tip. If the employee had said anything the least bit apologetic, such as thank you for waiting or apologized that they were not able to staff the pick-up window today, I would not be writing this review. For the record, there were other employees around. If the pick-up window is closed, then please indicate that to your customers with signage or close the doorway. If curbside is not an option, then take down the banner. Or, if only providing these services intermittently to your customers, a simple apology that the service could not be provided at a specific moment would speak volumes in...
