Came 20min out of my way because of the TV-advertised “Great Barrier Eats” special menu of four dishes “starting at $14.99” (the words “starting at” is key!…beware!). I received a menu and an insert like what such limited time offers normally have, but the insert included other items besides the specials, and didn’t even seem to display all four “special” dishes. Therefore I thought I simply wasn’t given the specials insert, and so I searched their website for the special menu and it, like the TV ad, also said “starting at $14.99”. Not seeing ANY kind of price differential CLEARLY stated anywhere for ANY of the three items that COULD have a different price other that $14.99 (that is, if ONLY one was $14.99 and, hence, the words “starting at”), I VERY mistakenly assumed that the price for my preferred dish must be likewise quite low if not $14.99…maybe $16.99 or $18.99 or even up to $22.99…Man oh man was that a mistake! Worse (for me), because I thought I was getting a screaming deal on my preferred dish I decided to splurge and get a Bloomin’ Onion even though I was alone and knew I couldn’t eat it all. I then ordered my preferred item: the “Reef & Beef Platter” which is a 6oz Top Sirloin (not the tastiest, most tender cut of beef, but what can one expect for $14.99 or some other similarly low price?), a few grilled scallops and shrimp (it ended up being three very small of each), a side of (about sevens sprigs of) broccoli, and a baked potato (“loaded” to preference)…a dish that at regular price at Outback (not really a “steakhouse” despite the name, and certainly not anywhere near a “high end” place) I’d expect to be about $28.99. So when my bill arrived I was absolutely SHOCKED to see that the price was $38.99…solidly double what I was expecting!!! So, in the end, I don’t think the price for that dish was “special” at all…I think the only thing “special” about it was that it was “a special menu insert” and a “special TV ad and ‘marketing emphasis’” for the four “special dishes” in this “promotion”. Finally, adding insult to (a literal budget) injury: the steak was a tad “gamey” tasting and was cooked medium (I’d ordered medium rare, so it lacked some juiciness), the scallops were tiny and rubbery (and one was quite scorched), the potato lacked butter to the point of being dry despite also having some sour cream on it (and the busser quickly cleared my bread plank and its tin of butter, and so I had no butter to add to the potato), and the Bloomin’ Onion wasn’t its normal treat, as if the oil was old or it was a tad overdone (it was abnormally dark and so I think it was the latter); fortunately the house craft blonde ale, the shrimp (albeit small and few), and the broccoli were all delicious!…but not enough to justify the $65 bill!…which “on a supposed special” at 4pm in the bar should’ve been $45 tops!!! Bottom line: while “full” and therefore feeling “well-fed” in that regard, I otherwise feel baited-and-switched and downright...
Read moreMatthew gave us great service this evening. We always get a really good meal and very good service at this location. They cleaned up our booth before we sat down, which was very nice. Clean interior. Love the wedge salads with the Bleu cheese and drizzle of balsamic vinegar! The stakes are always great, that's why we keep coming back.
Oct 2024 We stopped by for lunch. I just had to mention the wedge salad and chili. The wedge salads are large, and delicious with not only blue cheese but also a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette. A delicious taste combination! Their chili is the best chili I've had at a restaurant in a long time. And, I've been going around ordering chili everywhere lately. This chili is spicy, meaty with roast beef type meat (not ground beef) and no beans. Wonderful flavor and wonderful spice! I didn't even need to use hot sauce. Unfortunately, the Alice's Chicken I ordered was hard and dry, so I sent it back. The hamburger and steak we ordered were good.
Update June 2024 On this visit, everything was nearly perfect. I don't think they could have served us a better meal. All three different kinds of steaks we ordered, the lobster, the sides, everything was nearly perfect. We have been trying to go to higher end steakhouses to get better steaks, but find ourselves returning to this location and enjoying their finer steaks more for less than half the price of a high-end steakhouse. Luz, our server, did an excellent job all evening.
Update Feb 2024 On this visit, the baked potatoes were just lukewarm, one steak was overcooked, one steak was undercooked and one steak was cooked just right. One steak was half gristle. So, overall, the meal was just blah, but at least the service was okay. Same atmosphere as you might expect in any other outback.
Update Dec 2023 We had another nice visit to this fine establishment. Unfortunately, we sat and waited for about 15 minutes before we were seated. Normally, that would be just fine. But, when we were led into the dining room, it was nearly empty! There were plenty of empty tables and booths available. So, I'm not sure why we waited for anything. Caitlin took care of us very well. Of the three steaks we ordered, two were properly cooked to order, but one was extremely overcooked. However, they remedied the situation with an excellent replacement. My broccoli was extra steamed, as I requested. Our drinks were refilled as many times as we wanted. Bread was brought to the table several times. The fries were good; as was the wedge salad. Overall, a great meal. Nicely decorated interior. I'd say our steaks were a 4/5 in quality.
Original We went for early dinner. We got OMG steaks at great prices! We enjoyed the Ribeye with Grilled Shrimp and Victoria's Filet with Lobster. Both were just perfect! And, we got perfect service....
Read moreI really really really really really wanted to love this restaurant. I had my husband bring me here for my birthday dinner after arriving from Canada. I could have gone anywhere in Las Vegas for my dinner, but I wanted to try Outback because I love steak. Wow, what a letdown. Nothing was good. We ordered Bloomin Onion, & both of us had steak dinners, I also had grilled lobster with mine.
The Bloomin Onion was extremely oily & hurt throat to eat. Did not complain.
When our steak dinners came out, I noticed right away my steak was really, really well done. So I waited for the waitress to return to address, as I had ordered a medium rare. While waiting, I tried lobster, which was way overcooked & very tough & rubbery. When the waitress returned, she had a snarky attitude, arguing with me, saying that I had ordered my steak "well done." Not true at all. I have never eaten a well done steak in my life.
She took the whole plate, not even leaving me anything else to nibble on while having to wait yet again for my meal that I had ordered 30 minutes prior that should have been prepared correct the first time.
My husband's steak was very stringy, like it was a cheap cut, but he ate it because he's a man & not particular.
So after 20 minutes of waiting & my husband almost being done his dinner, my remade meal came back. This time, my steak was so raw it was practically still mooing & the lobster tails were the same ones from my first plate because the bite I had taken was still present. The attitude I got fro the waitress the first time I addressed error, made me not want to say anything again, as she was very aggressive. Her customer service skills are terrible.
What a horrible birthday experience. A meal that cost us over $155 & the only thing I was satisfied with was my potato & drink. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves steak & appreciates having respectful interaction between restaurant staff & paying customers, spending A LOT of money on their meals. Very regretful experience.
I decided this was my best choice in addressing situation. I hope management has an opportunity to read this & train their employees on how to treat paying customers when they are not satisfied with an order.
To be aggressive with me while stating that I ordered my steak well done, when I have never ordered well done in my life, then trying to argue with me about it is just terrible customer service. Then making us pay for our meal, when she saw that I never even...
