I gave it one star in every category. The reasons are as follows. For atmosphere it’s kind of just a cold plane Square dining room area, and the people who order to go have to just kind of stand around the tables. There’s no door going to the bathroom areas and the floors are quite dirty. You can see into the entire kitchen, which sometimes is good, but I didn’t find this time to be that good. I gave one star for service because I clearly talked to the girl who took my order and repeated two times that I want a burrito with steak cheese and sour cream, and Nothing else in the burrito as I hate beans and rice in a burrito. When I got the burrito, it was loaded with beans and no cheese. Of course this was to go and I didn’t know till I got home. There were so many beans that I felt like I ordered just a straight been burrito. As for the food itself, the steak had zero flavor. Every other piece of steak was hard and fatty and I had to spit it out. The beans look like baked beans with the flavoring washed off of them. When I went to pick the burrito up half of the contents fell out after the first couple bites because it was so soupy from the beans. From 1 to 10 on the tortilla chips I give them a two it’s like thick flavorless dry discs. The only thing that had some flavor to it was the red salsa but there’s not enough of that red salsa in the world to make that food taste good. Also on the service part when I ordered my sister also ordered and she just wanted two carne Asada tacos. We were very clear on what we said, it wasn’t loud there weren’t people behind us waiting to order they weren’t rushed and she got that wrong by giving her three 3 carne Asada tacos, as some sort of dinner plate. The corn tortillas were flavorless and soft and soggy. She also asked for a side of guacamole which we paid for, and it was the equivalent to 1 tablespoon of guacamole. The name of the place is taco Verde and salsa bar. Yet, the only thing that’s in there which is a little prep station that probably holds the salsa that customers are supposed to get, but it has a handwritten sign on it saying do not open or not for customers or something like that. It’s hard to spend money to eat out these days with the prices so high out there. This was close to $30 plus I threw a few dollars in their tip jar. So we are talking about one single burrito and three very small steak street tacos. All of which were improper didn’t taste good in cost 30 bucks. When you make this many mistakes, you deserve to get one star in every single category. She repeated my order back to me, so I know she heard me correctly yet somehow, even though we were the only order they had to make they got it wrong. Obviously I will never go back. There’s too many problems that need to be fixed and I don’t think they’re willing to do so. There’s a Del taco in the parking lot right next to them they actually are better and I’m sick of Del taco but now I wish I had gone there instead.! there’s a Don Tortaco in the parking lot behind them as well so with so many different Mexican options to choose from you think they would try to do their best and make things properly and with quality but obviously they just don’t care as most restaurant owners these...
Read moreYou know those places you always pass by almost everyday, and you tell yourself or your family members, "I/we need to go try that place." Well, this was going on for a couple of years for this restaurant and it wasn't until recently, 9 Jul 2024, my family and I finally decided to eat here and we're glad we did. When we walked in, the restaurant didn't have anyone in the dining area; part of it could be due to the extreme temperatures outside and no one wanting to leave their house...or, perhaps most people don't really dine in at fast food/fast casual restaurants anymore. Regardless, it was a good change of pace to have some quiet time while eating at this restaurant.
The employees were great; super fast and highly efficient! I don't know if the name is accurate, but our cashier, Carla (according to my receipt), was extremely friendly which I very much appreciated because it seems to be lacking these days from a lot of restaurant employees across the country. The menu here is simple which is great because you're not staring at the menu for a long duration trying to decide what to order. The food was amazing; we ordered the Carne Asada Bowl, Carne Asada Taco Special, Carne Asada Burrito, and Taco Pastor. I was a little skeptical of the size of my burrito at first because it seemed a bit smaller than most Mexican restaurants across the city; however, I was looking with my stomach again (I was starving), and at the end of the meal, I was thankful that the burrito wasn't any bigger than what was served. I know that this restaurant advertises a "Salsa Bar" but I didn't see one there. But to be fair, the restaurant offers several types of homemade salsa whenever you order your food.
The restaurant was clean/well-maintained/organized. The price-to-quantity/quality was very reasonable and I especially respect this restaurant for their continuous support to the men and women of the Armed Forces, including its Veterans - thank you for that! If you haven't been here before, I highly suggest you give it a try...I know for a fact that my family and/or I will be back in the near future because there were other items on their menu I wanted to try and some I want again. I strongly recommend this restaurant...
Read moreUnderrated taco joint in the Providence area! We've been visiting since they opened in the Albertsons shopping center, and have had consistently great food.
Their meat selections are cooked perfect, and the pastor is particularly good (it has a pineapple marinade). Their tacos, burritos and quesadillas are fresh made and piping hot when they are served. However, I will say their prep time is a bit longer than your average taco shop.
Their salsas are incredible, especially the hot green and this one red sauce that has a bit of peanut in it (it sounds weird, but TRY it. It's good, I promise). It's a shame that they are unable to allow self serve because of COVID, so be sure to ask for plenty of them.
Be aware, they are technically part of Jackpot Joanie's, so your bank statements will say Joanie's on them, just FYI. They have their own entrance and are connected by a side hallway, so don't worry about dealing with the gamblers next door, it's great to...
