My family and I visited this restaurant for the first time on 20 Feb 2023. I recall discussing our experience after we left the restaurant and stating that we thoroughly enjoyed our food and that we'll definitely be back in the future to try other items on the menu. The menu was so robust that I had such a difficult time selecting what I wanted to eat, and my family had the same issue - you be the judge if that's a positive or negative thing to experience with respect to the menu size. I don't recall what everyone ordered during our initial visit; however, I'll list the items that we ordered during our recent (23 Dec 2023) visit.
We ordered the Crab Cake Benedict with Hash Brown Patties, Chorizo Breakfast Burrito, Bacon Breakfast Skillet with Marble Rye Toast, and Homemade Challah French Toast. First off, let me say this...this restaurant definitely knows how to ensure customers don't leave hungry. The amount of food they serve is so substantial, in that, they could intimidate all the legacy buffets in the famous Las Vegas resorts/casinos. Ok, maybe that's a little over exaggeration on my part, but I think you understand the reference/comparison.
This restaurant was extremely busy during both visits. If I recall, the first visit was around the 11:00 am time frame (45-60 min wait time); and the most recent visit was around 1:00 pm (20 min wait time). Needless to say, both visits had kind of a lengthy wait time which is understandable due to its popularity, therefore, plan for the wait whenever you decide to eat here - trust me, it's well worth it. Additionally, this restaurant provides amazing service! Unfortunately, I don't recall our server's name during the 20 Feb visit, but I remember it was stellar. Our server on 23 Dec (Yadira) did a remarkable job during our visit as well - she was very friendly, attentive, and professional.
If I were to point out a couple of things that's slightly less than adequate are (1) I wish there were more room in the entrance and main dining areas. That dining area was a bit crowded whenever we ate here; and (2) I wish the owners would build another restaurant in the far Northwest part of the city so it's within close proximity to my residence. Neither of these are show stoppers, nor is it indicative to my review/rating of this business...just something I would wish for.
Overall, this restaurant is amazing! The price-to-quantity/quality ratio is very reasonable as I alluded to earlier in my review. I have the utmost respect for this business for supporting the men and women of the Armed Forces and its Veterans - this is highly appreciated. If you haven't been here before, you need to stop in and grab some incredible food. In fact, swing by and at least grab several bagels to-go! Highly recommend this business...
Read moreI went to this establishment on New Year Eve's and ordered 3lbs of corned beef. I called in my order and was told it would be ready in 10mins, that was a lie. I stood at the counter for 30 minutes watching people come in after me and get there orders before I did, that annoyed me. The girls at the counter kept asking my name pretending to act like they cared. They did NOT care! Otherwise I would not have been standing there for so long, waiting for my order.
Now, let's talk about this corned beef!! I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio where corned beef is VERY popular. I was under the impression that if you wanted LEAN corned beef you had to specifically request it. Lean corned beef is awful, it's dry, not as much flavor and not as tender. I do not like it. I was given 3 lb of lean corned beef and I did not request it. Whoever is working in Bagel Cafe kitchen either don't care or they don't know the difference between lean corned beef and regular corned beef and they should be fired. I also feel that if you are not of a certain color, you get treated differently at this establishment. (Stop staring so much). I have been coming to Bagel Cafe for years and the corned beef used to be very delicious. Not anymore. I spent $61 on 3 lb of corned beef and it was awful. Awful awful, I will not be returning ever! Bagel Cafe if your Cooks in your kitchen don't care or don't know how to cook and cut corned beef correctly, then please stop selling it. What a disgrace!! I rather go to Siegel's Bagelmania instead .
This was the owners response:
Ma'am, you called and complained and the person in charge was explaining to you what happened, you just hung up.
We can't fix an issue or make it right if you hang up on us.
To the owner: 1st, the person in charge NEVER apologized. He was very dismissive. Assuming I don't know my corned beef. Telling me " I can't control the cut of corned beef" and in the same breath "we charge extra for lean corned beef" sounds to me like you can control the cut of corned beef ? So... After hearing his weak excuse there was nothing more to talk about. So...YES, I did hang up!! Obviously, hearing his excuse, he was not willing to fix this. And obviously after hearing the owner response, you are not willing to fix it either. No apologies from either of you!! I am assuming you are ONLY use to receiving great reviews, perhaps that's the reason why you are in denial about...
Read moreAh, the Bagel Café in Las Vegas—a bustling hub that promises a New York-style bagel experience in the heart of the desert. While the atmosphere is charged with a sense of classic deli comfort, be prepared: when busy, the noise level crescendos to a point where casual conversation becomes a competitive sport. Coupled with an interior temperature that was surprisingly chilly, it's clear that the café's ambiance could use some fine-tuning.
Now, let's talk about the breakfast experience. Today I ordered biscuits & gravy with scrambled eggs and had specifically requested very crispy bacon. What I received, however, was a dish that clearly succumbed to the perils of a busy morning shift—barely lukewarm at best. Given the bustling and noisy atmosphere, one could empathize with the overwhelmed staff, but it's precisely these high-pressure moments that define a restaurant's mettle.
Through no fault of their own, I didn’t complain or send the food back, so I can't comment on how they might have responded. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time or the heart to do so, given how busy they were.
My coworker, by contrast, received a fairly hot meal, leaving me to suspect that my plate had been the unfortunate victim of a logistical hiccup, languishing on the counter a bit too long.
While the taste of lukewarm food can never be fairly assessed, hunger compelled me to eat half my plate, and to the café’s credit, it was surprisingly tolerable even in its less-than-ideal state.
In terms of service, one can't help but feel that they missed an opportunity here. The staff, clearly overwhelmed, would benefit greatly from an additional meal delivery system, ensuring that each dish reaches the table as it was intended—fresh and hot. The role of a dedicated meal delivery person could very well elevate the dining experience from adequate to exceptional.
In summary, while the Bagel Café falls short in delivering consistent temperature for its dishes and maintaining a conducive atmosphere, especially during busy hours, it's a place teeming with potential. Would I give them another try? Possibly, but with the hope that next time, the heat in my plate matches the warmth in the atmosphere, and the sound level allows for an actual...
