My dad lives here and when I come into town, we always hit up the Hush Puppy. I've noticed they have really gone downhill over the past 6 months or so. The food is always amazing, but the service is not good. Came on Monday at 5:30 and was told there would be a 15 minute wait. A lot of empty tables, but we though 15 minutes was fine. At 30 minutes, I asked the hostess and she said we were next, but they only had 3 waitresses working and our patience was appreciated. We got seated a few minutes later and took another 10 minutes to get drinks and our order taken. The waitress then was stopped in the entry way by some friends and she talked to them for 15 minutes (I am not exagerating). Part of the reason they couldn't seat more people...not because they were overly busy, in my opinion. I ordered the all you can eat whole catfish. Prices have gone up by several dollars, but there is no longer a salad bar. I understand this happened because of COVID, but many restaurants have salad bars operating again. They will bring you cole slaw (for free) if you want it. The fish was great! The first plate had 2 whole fish and when I finished those, the waitress asked if I would like more. I said yes, but did not specify how many more I wanted; she brought 2 more whole fish. I ate one and the manager came and took the other away when I said we were finished. When he came back to the table, I asked him what they did with the fish, he told me they throw it away! I asked him why they waste food like that and he told me it was policy to toss it because if they gave the food to one customer, they would have to give it to all. I cannot imagine that a restaurant would take a food loss every time there is extra food. Tell the waitress to bring out one fish at a time or let the customer take it home. Hope it didn't go to the next customer because I picked up both pieces of fish before deciding which to eat. I thought his attitude was really pretty rude. I do love the fish and I will do take out in the future. I won't spend another 2 hours at the restaurant for mediocre service and such poor customer service from...
Read moreI went through the drive through today, I ordered 3 chicken strips and order a French fries and coleslaw. I drove all the way home just to open my bag and see that I only received French fries and coleslaw. I drove back to the restaurant pulled up to the drive through no one came to the speaker, Pulled around to the window no activity at the window. Proceeded to go in to the restaurant to tell them that I was missing my chicken strips. Eventually Elena, Who had originally helped me at the drive though, Recognizes me and says oh chicken strips, I just realized they were missing. Understandably, I was not amused, And all I said was yeah chicken strips. She then proceeded to fiddle with the register unsure of what she needed to do, Left the area I'm assuming to get the chicken strips, Then I could hear her whispering to someone around the corner. Then another person brought the chicken strips to the counter, And did not offer one apology just immediately started making excuses about how everyone makes mistakes and I shouldn't be so upset and rude, At that point I hadn't said much at all, However that was about to change. She sat the chicken strips on the counter, And said to me I gave you a brownie I didn't even have to do that, I then said to her well now my fries are cold, She states oh you want new French fries. I stated yes I do I spent $18 on this meal the least you could do is get it right, I also stated I went to the drive through and no one came to speaker I pulled around to the window no 1 came to the window, She then told me there is no one covering the drive, I stated I just got my food from the drive through. I said can I speak to the manager, She says I am the manager. Still no apology just continue to tell me how horrible and rude I was. I can see now why your business is SO low. The customer service is horrible and I feel sorry for Elena who's being taught bad habits by that horrible manager. I am hoping that the general manager of this establishment will reach out to me with a response. Not one apology from either of them you have got to be kidding me. Worst...
Read moreHaven't been to Hush Puppies in a while, decided to go there with my man. Now I'm use to the one on Nellis Blvd blvd but was un-aware they had permanently closed! So we headed to the one on Charleston! We arrive and there's like 1 car in the parking lot(not busy at all) they looked closed but checking the door time(10 pm) and pulling on the door, they were open. (It is about 8:45-8:50 pm) we head inside, a host, server, waitress etc.. (not exactly sure who she was, never introduced her self) says hello to us then proceeds to say: "we close at 9" Upon checking the time posted on the door and on the counter of the restaurant it said 10pm. So then I reply "it says 10 pm tho, do you guys want to go home?" The server/host whatever then points behind me and says: "well here is the Manager" I turn around, she says hello to me. I repeat myself " your signs are posted and it says you close at 10 p.m. but the lady over here is telling me you guys close at 9, would you guys like to go home?" She says: "no, if you would like to sit down and eat we will serve you". She then proceeded to say: "some nights we are slow, and when we are slow we go home early"
Completely understandable but if that's going to happen why not LOCK THE DOORS!!!!!! so that way customers don't come inside, and you don't have to worry about "getting busy" and taking guests if that's really what you don't wanna do!!! Turning your guests/customers away as SOON as they get inside is a BIG red flag!!! Terrible customer service was displayed, on top of it being new owners of the place! It's not gonna last long!! I'm huge 1 star based on customer service and hospitality!!! I hate to say it, but I don't think the new owners know what their doing and unfortunately Hush puppies may not last if they don't get their act together, meaning customer service, the people that hire, and from the reviews I'm reading: "their food"...
