I live in Gainesville and was in Fort Lauderdale visiting friends. Gainesville is a wonderful place to live & eat, but to my eternal disappointment there are no Trini restaurants here. So I knew I would be filling a cooler while I was in Fort Lauderdale, which has 17! My recommendation from a local didn't have the dishes I was looking for, so I went to the next-closest restaurant, which just happened to be Sybil's. I walked in and basically told the cashier that I wanted one of everything! This place is like a deli or cafeteria: it has baked goods and a hot bar where you can order a single meal to eat there or to go, or you can order a family-sized portion to go. I ordered a lot of food, and the cashier was incredibly patient and friendly, explaining all the dishes to me and packing everything up. I filled a small cooler for $60. It says a lot about the food when I would give five stars to a two day old, reheated curry goat roti... and it's absolutely worth it! The cassava pone is absolutely the best I've ever had, including my own! Even the mauby was great- honestly tastier than what I had in Trinidad! I will go back there every time I visit...
Read moreI went Thursday (8/26) and ordered half a pan of cassava pone for Tuesday (8/31) with the Aunty. We discussed with her and one of her family members about how they were from NJ also. We were going to be returning back to NJ (8/31) to bring the cassava pone back for my grandmother who loves the pone from this location. The Aunty said that she would have it ready by 9:30 am before our flight same day. She was a really nice and kind lady. However, our customer service experience was with an older male (owner) who was quite rude and nasty with us and said the order was not ready and they were sold out first thing in the morning. Prior to us going to the store to pick it up, we called to order 5 bake and salt fish and that was also not ready. He waited until we got to the store to start preparing it. It inconvenienced us as we would have been late for our flight. The proper courtesy would have been to tell us on the phone when we called that he could not prepare the order for us as we wasted our time driving across town away from the airport. Overall, as Iâve had good experiences from this location before, todayâs experience was poor and...

I asked her if she could just put them separately and her response to me was no this is how we serve it here. I explained to her that I didn't want the bread to be wet by the time I got home and she turned to me and said well then you can order saltfish and several bakes but I'm not going to serve it to you separately that's how we serve it.. I told her that if I can't have the food the way that I would like it then I don't want it and she's simply Shrugged her shoulders and that was it. If you are the type of person who likes good service I would not go here!!. The staff is very rude and is not accommodating us what it...
