I’m giving an extra star because of the overall experience.
It’s a buffet! Go figure. Just when we had thought the life of ‘the buffet’ was over following the year of the face masks. This one is going strong. Reserve a spot or you might not get in. We overheard the greeter turning people away or ‘wait and we’ll try to get you in’. Every seat inside was taken as we walked in for our 5pm sitting.
First of all, the prime rib was very good . . . Very good! Of the best “going out” prime rib I have ever had. Very tender. Perfectly cooked. And, the ‘oh my’ straight-up horseradish was delicious, peppery, and bold. Yes it will catch you by surprise if you are not careful.
Service was stellar. The friendly staff and servers always gave their best, despite the constant flow of grumpy old folks and other ‘entitled assholes’ we had overhead while waiting for entry and while we were quietly dining.
All of the reviews are correct . . . canned mushrooms, limited, yet still adequate salad and desert bars and the sides. But, despite the complaints, the $28 price tag is one of the better deals for prime rib anywhere . . . even Vegas. The cut was thick 3/4”, 10oz was a good portion. The service was odd, but adequate with your first walk-up buffet salad and starch selections before the main entree’s are served to your table. Oh, we had to ask for salt and pepper.
Other than it being very much a buffet, it was a decent night out, with plenty of food and plenty of friendly severs providing a grand atmosphere. We didn’t sit along the river view, but me facing the entry, provided plenty of things (people) to look at. And when was the last time you saw an actual “doggy bag”?
No reason to go anywhere else for prime rib while here in...
Read moreIT WAS SO DISSAPOINTED AND I DISLIKED MOSTLY EVERYTHING.. I EXPECTED BETTER I BEEN WANTING TO GO THERE FOR SO LONG I FINALLY DID, THEY CHARGE 24.99 PER PERSON AT THE ENTRANCE, I WAITTED ALMOST 20 MINTS BEFORE I ASKED IF SOMEONE WAS GOING TO OFFER US DRINKS,🤣 ALSO I DID NOT EXPECTED TO BE A LOW QUALITY BUFFET, I EXPECTED A MENU BUT LET ME TELL YOU, I WAS WRONG, THEY HAVE A SALAD BAR AND YOUR SIDE BAR, SO YOU GET YOUR SALAD AND AFTER YOU ARE DONE YOU GET UP AND GET YOUR SIDES FOR YOUR STEAK OF CHOICE, THE CHEFF OR THE SERVER THAT CUTS YOUR STEAK HE WAS NOT HAVING IT, I REALLY DONT THINK HE LIKES HIS JOB OR ENJOYS HIS JOB AT ALL. THE PRIME RIB WAS DRY NOT GOOD AT ALL, I have a teenger daughter she doesn't eat steak so she didn't eat nothing but corn so I paid 25.99 for just a side of corn for her because there no more options for kids and what is worst is that they don't tell you at the entrance ... is EITHER YOUR NY STEAK OR YOUR PRIME RIB AND YOUR SIDES FROM THE BUFFET SO BE AWARE IF YOU TAKE KIDS BECAUSE THEY DONT OFFER NOTHING ELSE FOR YOU BUT THEY DONT TELL YOU, when you pay at the entrance, but if you have a piky eater you will just waste your money Be AWARE. THE LADIES AT THE ENTRANCE THEY ARE AMAZING AND FUN, I WAS IN ON 8/11/23 AT 9 PM AND THE BEST SERVICE I GOT WAS FROM THE BUSSER AND THE GUY THAT BRINGS YOU DRINKS AND THATS WHY I TIPPPED BOTH OF THEM BECAUSE THEY WERE AMAZING, AND THE COCKTAIL WAITTER SHE WAS ALSO GOOD. BUT WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT.before I forget they dont have TO GO boxes, they offered me zipploc bags🤣🤣 . WILLL I EVER GO...
Read moreOn Tuesday I placed a call to the restaurant to make arrangements for Saturday dinner with a group of friends; roughly 20 retired military veterans and their wives. No program or anything. Simply dinner! I spoke to the restaurant manager Mary and explained what we needed. She said that we would be seated in a certain area of the restaurant at several tables in close proximity to each other. She explained the price would be $21.95 ++ per person and what would be included. We were flexible with the time. Mary suggested 4:45pm for dinner. We were agreeable to all of that. Mary stated that she would confer with her banquet manager to approve things and then she would call me later that day to confirm. She nor her banquet manager called me back on Tuesday. I called Mary back on Wednesday evening for confirmation. Mary then advised me that after conferring with her Banquet Manager that they would not be able to accommodate our group. Her explanation was that they could not accommodate more than 20 people. We did not have more than 20 people! We were flexible with the time! We are law-abiding senior citizens with means to pay for our meals! We tip! Mary said that she would have the banquet manager call me back for a full explanation of why we could not be accommodated. The banquet manager never called.
What gives?
Surely being an African American group should not have been an issue in 2021! Or was it?
Needless to say after being snubbed in this manner that The Prime Rib is no longer on our list of places to dine on our frequent trips...
