Eat anywhere else! I've eaten at almost every buffet in Las Vegas and the food here is inedible to the point where I feel I had to write a review that I will email to the Riverside Resort. The pretty veneer and expansive view of the river masks the absolute putrid food quality, zero value for money and repulsive dining experience at the Riverside Buffet. It is tremendously overpriced with some of the lowest-quality food I have ever had the displeasure of eating.
First off, the utensils and the serving dishes are ugly, depressing and unappealing to look at. That ruins the experience off the bat. Then, in what seems to be a horrid substitute for charcuterie, there are prison-grade cold cuts with drab cheeses on ice. The salad looked wilted and I then went to try the meats. I had some "beef" teriyaki with asparagus that made me wonder if Alpo were using us buffet patrons to try their new flavor of dog food. Hoping that having their clam strips would be redeeming as they are quite hard to mess up, they were mushy, limp and had no flavor. Finally, the roast beef was really tough and the gentleman behind the carving station gave me a dainty piece as if he were provisioning gold-plated wagyu. I guess he was doing me a favor since even the roast beef, usually a buffet's flagship dish, was dry, tough and the worst quality carved meat I have had at any buffet. I then took some pork with Dijon sauce and BBQ beef. Both had strong chemical tastes in the sauces. The pork was very tough and the beef was very pasty. In hopes of finding a dish that was tolerable, I finally took a spicy chicken wing which ended up not tasting like chicken at all and had a very artificial smoke flavor. Finishing off with dessert, the pies tasted like cardboard stuffed with mystery fruit. And as the final insult, the soft serve ice cream tasted extremely watery and diluted. Our server wasn't very friendly, but was attentive and prompt.
What a waste of a great location with a nice view that could be a place people wanted to eat at. I'm a tourist to Laughlin trusting that the town's namesake would offer a buffet that is worth my money and well-run but end up feeling scammed and disappointed. I would pay more to eat at this place and enjoy the view if they actually cared about serving good food and the dining experience.
However, this is the worst casino buffet I have been to in my life. The food quality is terrible and absolutely not even worth it if offered for free. The Riverside Resort should be deeply ashamed of themselves for the atrocious quality of the food here. I wonder how the town's namesake, Mr. Don Laughlin feels about having his name on such a terrible buffet when we should expect his buffet to set the standard in Laughlin, Nevada. Avoid...
Read moreWas a bit worried based on reviews - so my wife and I asked to view the buffet before entering and there were no objections by the staff. First off it’s a buffet - so I’ll use a chain buffet that I’m use to for comparison. I have a simple rule with buffet compared to a restaurant- buffets should be visited during peak hours and restaurants slightly off peak hours. Want to ensure the food is being refreshed continuously when dinning. Went during dinner hours. Quantity of items offered was less than that of a big city buffet restaurant but were in a small desert resort town so for me the selection was great, catering to all needs. The service is what I expected- drinks served and refreshed, empty plates removed- anything more required is outside of a typical buffet service. The seating area is amazing - panoramic view of river - great booth and table seating - everyone has a view. Very upscale feeling- but this might be the only problem I see - the food service area didn’t feel like it fit with the rest of the restaurant. I would guess this was not always a buffet- feels like it was converted to a buffet restaurant. Every time I went to the food area I felt like I was going to the employee kitchen area not the resort buffet. I think an upgrade of the buffet food area would really add to the overall experience. Was more like going to a fancy restaurant and having food served on paper plates. Visuals add to the perception of food quality overall - presentation is equally important as taste. A modernization of the food service area would greatly improve this restaurant. In the end service/staff was great, selection was good, food was good, price acceptable for what was provided, atmosphere was exceptional. Would...
Read moreMy oh My ....Where to begin. This is hands down the worst buffet I've ever been to. Ever. Literally the only reason to come is the gorgeous view but I'd rather just sit on the dock and eat seaweed. I picked at several items in attempt to find something worth eating. I settled on the mash potatos ,they're very good with salt , pepper and butter. Even the Prime Rib was tough with zero taste. That was disappointing. If you don't have taste buds and don't care at all what you put in your body you will enjoy it here. The staff was not very friendly scoffed about giving us more than 1 napkin. They were completely out of silverware after 1 hour of being open. Had ZERO plates , salad plates or even bowls at the buffet. The buffet lighting is so close to the food you burn your hands grabbing serving spoons and the food has a film over it from being Roasted under the light. It's not very expensive but it is way over priced at the same time. Quality Vs Quantity folks!! If you eat here GOOD LUCK I'm sure my mum will regret it later. I'll update of the mash potato...
