We had dinner at the gourmet room on 3-29-25 I'll first start off by saying the service was excellent. Our waiter and his assistant took excellent care of us. My girlfriend ordered the lobster ravioli which was literally floating in sauce. This is not how this dish is supposed to be prepared. But apparently it is at the gourmet room. I ordered the steak Diane. The server brought out the wrong order and he brought me a eggplant parmesan. He quickly removed that and within just a few minutes he brought out my steak Diane. Which I thought was a little bit odd. That he could get an order out that quick. But what I received was even stranger. I received a few slices of beef with some sort of demi-glaze that it was smothered in. I've eaten it some great restaurants and I've never seen a steak Diane served this way it's normally one steak not pieces of steak. And normally the cuts that are used are a filet, ribeye or New York. I can assure you this was none of those nor was his properly prepared. My girlfriend and I were having a great time so we really didn't want to ruin the evening by contacting the server and we just went on about our meal and our evening which we actually had a great time at the restaurant and the casino. I contacted Miss Rios who is the food and beverage director for the Riverside Casino a few days later. She was very courteous and she reached out to the executive chef who told me that the way they prepare their steak Diane is to press out a few pieces of filet and then serve it with a sauce. Well I've never seen this prepared this way and to be quite honest with you it's just was pretty unappealing. I asked Ms Rios is that it? Meaning is it going to go anywhere from here and she said well are you looking for compensation. To be quite honest I probably was looking for a little bit of compensation because my girlfriend's order was floating in sauce when it should have been more like a dressing. But I didn't want to push the issue over the phone and I was a bit surprised that the director did not offer something for next time I would visit their casino and restaurants. I do live in the area and have for several years. I would make a recommendation to the gourmet room that if you're going to serve steak Diane this way which no other four star plus restaurant serves it this way You might want to put on the menu how it will be prepared with slices of beef or as I was told press medallions. I do want to say though that the staff did a great job even though they did bring out the wrong order. And I get it we're human people...
Read moreA few months ago I was intrigued by the classico menu of the Gourmet Room when searching online for restaurants in Laughlin. These French classic dishes are no where to be found in the vicinity and in fact many of the largest cities I have visited throughout the past few years. Being culinary trained in many in many of these French dishes, I was excited to patron this restaurant as soon as possible. Upon arrival, the restaurant resonates to a 1980's dining feel where even the service staff are dressed in tuxedo type uniforms. Our table was placed in front of the enormous windows with a phenomenal view of the Colorado River. The first items were escargot and a classic French onion soup. These items were well presented with a savory taste, highly recommended. The dinner salads consisted if fresh greens, beautiful ripe cherry tomatoes and fresh baked croutons. The dressings were both made in house with creamy textures and nice consistency. The Filet mignon was cooked to perfection, rare and medium rare, accompanied with fresh Bearnaise sauce. The filet mignon was so tender, I actually cut it with my fork, this definitely doesn't happen in today's modern cooking. The quail was properly roasted with excellent seasoning and flavor beyond expectations. A nice surprise was the intermezzo of sorbet served before the entree. Not many restaurants do this in today's fine dining. At the end, our dinner was capped off with a traditional creme brulee that had us wanting more with every bite. The entire experience took about an hour and a half while each course had been timed perfectly. The experience was wonderful and the menu is exceptional. I highly recommend this place to anyone who not only enjoys cooking as an art, but also in taste, in service and...
