Captain D's — Restaurant in Laurel

be me decide to try Captain D's for the first time walk in, immediately greeted by the smell of fried fish mfw I realize I forgot to look at the menu online beforehand panic.jpg lady at the counter asks what I want uhhh... fish and fries? she smiles, suggests the 2 Piece Fish & Fries meal nod like a bobblehead, spaghetti falls out of my pocket pay and sit down, trying to hide the spaghetti trail

food arrives fish is crispy, fries are golden take a bite, it's like a flavor explosion in my mouth feel like Gordon Ramsay, but without the yelling finish meal, leave feeling like a culinary genius more spaghetti falls out of my pocket as I walk out

next week decide to go back, feeling brave this time, I look at the menu online plan my order like a military operation walk in, confidently order the Seafood Feast shrimp, fish, hush puppies, and two sides lady at the counter gives me a thumbs up feel like I just won an Oscar spaghetti slips out of my pocket, she pretends not to notice

sit down, food arrives shrimp is juicy, hush puppies are little balls of heaven mac and cheese is creamy, green beans are... green feel like I'm dining at a 5-star restaurant leave, already planning my next visit trail of spaghetti behind me

third visit bring a friend, trying to impress them order the Giant Fish Sandwich friend orders the Grilled White Fish & Shrimp Skewer food arrives, friend is impressed feel like a social butterfly take a bite of the sandwich, it's like a fishy hug friend loves their meal, says we should come here more often mission accomplished spaghetti falls out of my pocket, friend laughs

fourth visit decide to try something new order the Southern-Style Fish Tenders lady at the counter recognizes me she says, "Back again?" awkwardly laugh, say yes spaghetti peeks out of my pocket sit down, food arrives fish tenders are crispy, coleslaw is fresh feel like I'm on a culinary adventure spaghetti everywhere

fifth visit feeling like a regular now order the Ultimate Seafood Platter fish, shrimp, crab, and more sides than I can count lady at the counter gives me a knowing smile sit down, food arrives it's a seafood extravaganza feel like Poseidon, ruler of the sea spaghetti falls out of my pocket like confetti

leave Captain D's realize I've found my new favorite place 10/10 would recommend tfw no longer socially awkward at Captain D's life is good spaghetti still falling out...

8/27/2024 20:10 This is our second visit in several years because the first experience was AWFUL! We decided to give this location in Laurel another try. It's been years. Maybe things have changed. NOT!!!! I ordered 7 pieces of beer battered fish and asked prior to paying that it be cooked fresh. The young lady did not mention anything to the cook while placing the order, so again, I said, "Can you please ask them to cook it fresh?" She turns and says, " She want it cooked fresh." It took less than 2 minutes to receive my order as the lobby was empty. I thought maybe they already had some down, so I didn't question them. When I opened the box, the fish was dark golden and extremely hard! It appears all the young man did was drop the cooked fish back into the grease. HOW IS THIS COOKED FRESH? IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!!! I returned it and requested a refund. The young lady didn't ask what was wrong. She leaned on her register and said, "What's the ticket number?" No apologies, no offer to cook it right this time, nothing. I guess we're done with this location. The customer service was terrible. I will never return to this location again. I love captain ds so much and haven't ate there in a while till just recently cause I moved but work in laurel still. Everything about my visit was excellent. I was there at right around opening time the cashier working the window was awesome she asked about condiments at the speaker usually even telling people at other places doesn't even matter cause they jus look at u very rudely. I jus wanna stress that u guys without a doubt have a good team and management and I know from experience that it takes both. Thanks to everyone but a special thanks to my cashier I wish i would've gotten her name but works drive through in the morning time. I will Definitely b back as often as possible. Keep up...
