This cake they TRIED to sell me was THE most PITIFUL cake I'd ever seen in life! Before I start this review, I want to say that Michelle, the sales representative was always helpful & courteous & based on the cake & my initial experience with ordering this cake, she is a complete asset to this company. So, I first inquired about ordering a cake for my husband's Surprise Birthday Dinner close to a month in advance (Late June/Early July). I sent a message through their email system on their website. I waited about a week I think & wondered why I hadn't received a response. When I called to inquire, Michelle stated that the other representative erased my message & that she found my inquiry. This should've been my red flag to run because of the unprofessionalism, but I was still interested because of the location for pick up. I needed a bakery in Laurel. After that fiasco, I explained to Michelle that I just needed a beautiful yellow cake with chocolate icing. No fondant. Michelle responded by saying that they don't do fondant, but there are clearly custom cakes on their website covered with fondant. I didn't say anything, & that should have been my 2nd red flag. The cakes on the website must be stolen images. But I continued with my order because Michelle was so helpful & courteous & I didn't want a fondant cake anyway. Michelle then goes on to ask if I could send photos of the design of the cake that I wanted. While I was looking, she actually sent me some photos of cake choices to choose from. I chose from her selection. I paid for the cake in advanced & we ended the call. On pick up day, Michelle said that the cake was ready & texted me a photo of the cake. To say I was blown away in the most negative way is an understatement. The cake looked NOTHING like what I ordered! The bottom icing was not chocolate, but some type of dingy, light brown icing. The top of the cake looked like it was sinking in the middle. The sorry 7 dipped strawberry on the top were not fresh. You can tell because the tops were turning light green, yellowish. When I called & told her that was unacceptable, she said that they were trying to fix it & I told her that I was on the way. She knew that cake was a mess. I arrived at the store & immediately requested a refund. My husband accompanied me & at that point, his surprise, his custom Birthday Cake, was RUINED! For the life of me I can't understand how this cake was even able to leave the bakery it was made in & how the baker thought that this was ok. Thank God that my husband is a grown man & that this cake was not for my children. This experience was sad & disappointing. We had to end up buying cupcakes from the Harris Teeter. If you cannot fulfill a service, especially of a product that a sales representative suggests to a customer, then you should not take a customers money & give them trash. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE & WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! The 1 Star is for Michelle's...
Read moreSomeone seriously left a one star review saying they were too embarrassed to serve the tiramisu cake to the guests because “it was too dry”? Either the bakery saw that review and made improvements or there was never anything wrong off the get-go. We just had a tiramisu cake made for a birthday and it’s important to remember it is a CAKE…not a regular tiramisu! Yes, it’s not going to have the same exact texture as a tiramisu because it’s literally a CAKE. With that being said I think they really hit the sweet spot in balancing the moistness vs. dryness level because you have two very different consistencies being mixed into one here… With a tiramisu being a lot more wet and a cake typically being more dry by comparison. Definitely would not call it “dry”. The best part is that if you want it more moist it tends to moisten over time in the fridge we noticed. Of course if you waited too long, it could start to get soggy. Not to mention, I actually love the fact that the cake was not too sweet. I saw another review on here complaining that their cake wasn’t sweet enough, but I think this is actually a plus because a lot of times cakes can be hard to eat because of how ridiculously rich they are from being so saturated in sugar. Our cake was an ease and a pleasure to eat(never felt too rich or that I had to put down the fork). Definitely would buy...
Read moreI was in town for the funeral for my aunt. After the service my cousin was hosting a "dessert bar" as my aunt had a serious sweet tooth! After using Google to locate all the bakeries in the area I choose this one based on prior reviews and the photos! Although the bakery is small there was a good selection of different cakes to choose from. I choose a small cake that was Marble (white and chocolate cake) with a mousse filling and white chocolate frosting with white and dark chocolate flakes on top. The nice young lady even asked if I wanted something written on the cake which I declined (not sure what I'd put for this occasion). I was a little nervous and didn't have many expectations on what the cake would taste like. I bake a lot and know that many cakes purchased can be dry and have little to no flavor. This cake was DELICIOUS! it was soft, good texture and a creamy filling! Several people complimented me on the purchase. My only regret is that I didn't buy the larger one! Thanks for...
