I have been a loyal customer of Giant for the past five years, visiting the store once a week. Unfortunately, I have witnessed a decline in customer service, which has become a significant issue. Despite being the best-stocked store in the area with a wide variety of products, the experience has become frustrating.
There is usually only one register open, and while there are several self-checkouts, the attendant is often absent, leaving customers needing help. This has happened to me on multiple occasions, making quick trips to the store unnecessarily time-consuming.
The last straw for me was when I had trouble using the self-checkout. The machine did not recognize the bags I brought from home and repeatedly called for assistance. However, no one was around to help, and multiple other customers were also waiting. When an employee finally arrived, I expressed my frustration, saying, "This is so dumb." The employee responded with, "You know what's dumb? Thievery." This was incredibly hurtful, as I have been a loyal Giant customer for years.
I also spoke with a manager, who had tattoos and glasses, but he seemed uninterested and just wanted to leave. Given this response, I felt submitting a complaint would be pointless.
I want to share my experience because it is clear from other reviews that many customers have faced similar issues. It's not okay for stores to treat customers poorly.
As a result, I have decided to change where I shop. Here are some recommendations for other stores in the area:
SHOPPERS: 13600 Baltimore Ave Ste 100, Laurel, MD 20707 (6 am to 11 pm). Great prices and a wide variety.
Harris Teeter: 14702 Baltimore Ave, Laurel, MD 20707 (6 am to 11 pm). Slightly higher prices but a wider variety of quality and healthy food.
Food Lion: 410 Sandy Spring Rd, Laurel, MD 20707 (7 am to 10 pm).
Weis Market: 410 Sandy Spring Rd, Laurel, MD 20707 (7 am to 10 pm).
Walmart (Columbia): A reliable option for a variety of products.
I personally avoid the Laurel Walmart due to its crowd and atmosphere.
The best way to see results is to change where you spend your money, and that is what...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been to this Giant many times and my office is a 5 min walk away. This was the first time I used order pick up with Giant because I was short on time. I've used Pea Pod delivery many times where I live without any issues. I wouldn't use order pick up at this location again. 1) My pick time was scheduled on a Saturday morning at 10am. I arrived at 9:55am and waited a few minutes before I realized that I never received a confirmation that my order was ready to be picked up or was being worked on. 2) At 10:05am I called the store to see if my items were ready since I never received a confirmation. The employee seemed surprised that I was in the parking lot. 3) The employee puts the stuff in my trunk then taps on the window to tell me they were out of 2 items and substituted 2 items. The employee said, "we were out of this and this and substituted this and this (as she's pointing the paper that I can't see). I said "what's this and this? Feeling a little more annoyed, then she explained. 4) AFTER I left Giant, I received the confirmation that they were working on my order. 5) I ordered organic spring mix which had a best buy date of 12/14 though I picked up my groceries on 12/12. So essentially I had 2 days to eat the salad or money would be wasted. 6) This one is more about the mentality of the shoppers. There is about 8 or 9 MARKED pick up parking spots in the lot. As I was waiting for my groceries, there was 3 different shoppers who parked their vehicles in the pick up spots and went inside to grocery shop because they couldn't be bothered with parking a little further away or respecting the policy. People are so selfish. Bottomline, if you're short on time, I would NOT recommend ordering online to pick up at...

September 16 2023 8:30am I went this morning to this store with my wife to do our shopping for the week. We had our shopping cart full, we proceed to the self checkout and the guy that was monitoring these area with a nasty attitude said, āyou have more than 21 items, can you read???? There is a sign!!!ā So he was right about the sign, I did not read o see it. This maybe because I never have my shopping cart so full before and never had this problem, so anyway, this guy was ruth. We had decided to do only one stop and get everything for once for the week. My wife and I went to the ONLY cashier that was open, three people were in front of us with the shopping carts full as urs, after 20 minutes of waiting we had decided to take only the necessary items and go to the self checkout area. Once we were here, instead of asking to help, an Giant employee just ask if we were not taking the cart full of items that we had left, we said no, they just sadly said ok! Instead of doing something else, like offering to help or something, they were monitoring us for sure.
We wonāt comeback to this store, very sad. (Laurel MD)
Note: I did not read the sign that that reads āonly 21 items or lessā that the guys said, but him and the other employees hadnāt read the employee handbook and the Company Mission have been overseeing and forgot. They donāt care about customer service, I feel that they only work there for the buck, because my customer service experience this morning was horrible.
The store manager was there and I know see did not care ether.
But the security officer, she was very...
