(TL;DR readers be warned, detailed review follows!)
Coffee's not anything especially stand-out, but it's definitely drinkable, and at a price range that's reasonable. The sitting area's a tragedy of poor design, largely in that it was designed open to wind and rain flow, without any windbreaks placed at the passageways. Just putting a few triangular signs up would massively help..
Staff sometimes makes a few mistakes (which seems understandable, given how they've got a steady drive-through flow keeping them busy, combined with the fact that customers like myself are constantly throwing them overly detailed order requests), but they're always willing to take care of any issues without hassle if you mention them, so always take a sip before going.
Staff is always friendly, patient, welcoming, and supportive with your orders and experience- far more than one'd expect, actually, given that they're all-too-often having to take complex or uncertain orders while standing out in the patio area in poor weather.
The refreshers are pretty fantastic, especially for their very reasonable pricing, and the smoothies are quite good for their price, as well. All beverages freely customizable, typically without extra charge, which elevates the entire experience- after all, even a generic tasting coffee's going to be pretty good if you can get its add-ins easily customized to your tastes, while being able to customize refreshers/smoothies without extra charges (other than for any real fruit additions, which are 50 cents each) is a rare and appreciated thing.
And 151 has a ton of add-ins you can consider. Rather, there's so many that even the staff has trouble keeping track of all of them! 151 doesn't offer a true cappucino (ie, layered frothed AND foamed milk) but their lattes are decent and they'll happily try to make you up a faux cappucino on request.
Honestly, if they just fix the airflow issues (namely, during winter/rainy periods), it'd be an all around recommendable spot. I mean, sure, the coffee's not "local corner cafe" level, but it still easily beats out Starbucks (and at a better price), nevermind lower end places like Dunkins, McDonald's, or Scooters.
Really, do give the place a try! Again, the coffee's not at the level of a true gem, but I've tried most places in town, and it's easily among the best, especially outside of the downtown area. Rather, every friend I've brought here thus far has found something to appreciate, enough to keep them going back since. And the smoothies/refreshers are legit delightful.
PS: 151 doesn't offer any food products, however, so if you don't mind making the extra trip, I'd recommend grabbing some donuts up from Muncher's before settling in to sip your coffee in 151's patio (or in your car, if the weather's bad. Seriously, fix your airflow problems, guys.. ^.^;)
A closer, more filling (or more refresher/smoothie-complimenting) food option is The Fresh Mediterranean just up the street from 151, only about a 2 or 3 minute drive away. The (gyro/kebab-based) food's not especially complex, but it's all very fresh tasting and goes well with the refreshing experience that is 151's non-coffee beverages. And Fresh Meditteranean has indoor seating, so that gives you more options for bad weather.. .;
Big shoutout to the staff at 151- always appreciate...
Read moreI want to preface this review; my coffee was good, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere is unique and inviting, but the value was absolutely horrible.
151 has an extensive selection of desert-imspired coffee drinks, so if you have a sweet tooth or need an after-dinner pickmeup, this might be a great place to try! I am not much a frappè fan, but I adore a black nitro coldbrew so I was excited to try it out.
After learning the 'large' here is 30 oz. (yes, thirty, 3-0), I tried a small. The after tax cost is just over $5, which is a reasonable price for a good coffee these days. I didn't realize that 80% of that weight was ice.
My entire drink was gone in a matter if 3 or 4 gulps, and this isn't an exaggeration. I had maybe 3 ounces of actual coffee beverage, a big amount of foam, and a cup filled to the brim with ice. The thing that really sucks is that it was good! It's an objectively good coldbrew, but it's absolutely not worth it at that price point and that little content.
This was my very first experience at a 151 location, and I don't know how reflective my experience is of every order but I'll probably stick to my local favorites for a similar drink at a better price.
I hope none of the service staff take offense, I'm just disappointed that I didn't get to savor the...
Read moreThis was a really positive experience for me and my friend. We had never been here before so the friendly man that took our order also took his time to explain to us what was on the menu, all the varieties of drinks and what was the most popular ect. Which was very helpful since we didn’t know what we wanted. After we ordered it only took like maybe 5 or 10 minutes for our drinks to come out which was pretty impressive since it was jam packed in there. It honestly wasn’t that expensive overall and the amount of beverage you get is generous. This is definitely an outdoor coffee place though so I am eager to see if the patio will still be open when it gets colder out or if it will be only drive thru? I would give it 5 stars if they had food/snacks on the menu too but it’s still has great quality coffee at an affordable price with top...
