A Frosty Fiasco: My Disappointing Experience at Wendy's 6th St, Lawrence, KS
I'll be upfront: I personally prefer the 6th Street Wendy's location to the one on 23rd Street here in Lawrence, KS. But today, I was faced with a dilemma of sorts. I had placed a mobile order and opted for the drive-thru pickup, expecting a quick and seamless transaction (at 6th St). When I pulled up to the window, I gave them my name for the mobile order. While waiting, I thought, "Why not grab a small frosty?" I politely asked if I could add one to my order. I was genuinely taken aback by the response from the man at the window: "I can't do that." My immediate thought was, "Why?" Then, a young woman behind him chimed in, explaining they'd just had a meeting that morning (6/18) and wouldn't be taking last-minute orders at the window. I glanced in my review mirror – only one car was still at the ordering station. The time was 1:10 PM. This wasn't the peak lunch rush. I calmly pointed out that by the time she finished explaining all of that, I could have easily paid for and received that small frosty. More words were exchanged, and frankly, her attitude showed poor business acumen. I told her I do lots of reviews, and I would certainly be doing one for this location. When I mistakenly referred to the manager by the wrong name, she curtly corrected me, adding that the manager, Martyn (maybe spelt wrong), was her mother. Common sense seemed to be missing in that moment. It wasn't the lunch rush, it was 1:10 PM, and there was just one car still ordering while I was still waiting for my mobile order, and after all the back and forth drama. Instead of finding a solution, she simply shrugged and began talking to her coworkers. This was far from professional and left a genuinely bad taste in my mouth. It reflects poorly not just on her, but on the restaurant and on the manager, Martyn, her own mother. All I wanted was a small frosty – one of the new ones, just to try it. There was more than enough time; they would have made another sale and, more importantly, created one happy customer. In the end, I called the home office customer service number as indicated in the app and expressed my concerns too. Not that I was expecting anything, but I was passively given one for a FREE ANY SIZE FROSTY. I...
Read moreThis was an awful place to go to for food on my lunch break. I spent the entire 30 minutes of my break plus an additional 15 minutes waiting to order, pay and receive my food. The order was not taken correctly, I was overcharged for what I wanted, and the sandwich was not made correctly. I even asked for my free Jr frosty because I had the key tag you can purchase and I was denied my free frosty. The manager that was on duty had her friends in the lobby and I sat on the line in drive thru as they unlocked the door to let another friend into the restaurant; but they immediately locked it back to keep paying customers out of the store. The manager on duty was not helping out at all. She was out in the lobby with her friends. When I got to the window and said that was inappropriate behavior of the manager, I was asked if it was a black thing. I mean are you seriously trying to turn it into a race issue when all I Saud was that was inappropriate behavior for the manager on duty to be exhibiting. I do not think I will ever go to this Wendy's again no matter how hungry I am; nor will I let my friends go there either. Not with service like I received...
Read moreWent to the drive through around 1130pm with one car infront of me and it took a tad longer than what seemed normal for fast food drive through for them to receive their food. I pulled up to the window paid for my food. Got my frosty right away but no spoon. Sat there for about 10 mins with no communication of what was taking so long. Saw three workers laughing and having a good time. Not a problem just would have been nice if I was told why it was taking so long. Finally I had to honk my horn to ask why the long wait. They were waiting on new fries....great awesome but wait....my spicey chicken sandwich had been sitting in the bag the whole time waiting for fresh fries. They did however offer a frosty for the long wait. Much appreciated. Got home and my chicken sandwich was super dry. This experience was not the greatest. Just hope the night shift can get it together bc I am normally pleased with the service. Communication and freshness...
