DO NOT USE BLUE ROOSTER FOR SPECIAL CAKES OR EVENTS. I used to love this place. Found them on yelp when we first moved to the area and loved their lunches and baked goodies. I will say their lunch menu is pretty short, but tasty. We were in there one day and I asked to talk to a baker about our daughter's 1st birthday cake. Spoke with Madison...she seemed eager and excited to help. We talked about the design we wanted which was a 3D dog made of fondant on a buttercream cake...I showed her some ideas on pinterest. She loved them and said it would be no problem. Fast forward to the week of her birthday party, I could not get in touch with Madison regarding finalizing the cake and paying them a deposit. She would not call or email me back. I felt like I was hunting her down for days...and started to get nervous. I finally called AGAIN on Thursday (party Saturday) and got her on the phone. She said everything was good to go and she had all the design specifications and colors. The day of the party my husband picked up the cake and brought it straight to the venue we were having the party. I nearly cried when he opened the box. It was a drawn on puppy dog and dog house. He had no idea it was wrong b/c he was not involved in the design process and he even tipped them $20. I called that day and said how upset I was the cake was not as discussed and that I asked someone in management to call me back (was looking for an explanation and possibly a partial refund or credit toward future purchase) because they did not give us what we asked. NO ONE EVER CALLED BACK! I've not gotten this bakery to call me back ONE time throughout this whole process. Then I emailed and facebook messaged them telling them I was upset and needed someone to call me. I got one short email reply from Kyle who I think is in management saying that the cake was "cute" and that they couldn't do the fondant (no explanation why) and an offer for free lunch. I replied and nicely asked them to call me instead of going back and forth over email...I loved this place and wanted to understand why the fondant didn't work and why no one called that morning or explained to my husband why the original design wouldn't work. NO CALL EVER! That is why I am writing this review. This place might be okay for a drop in lunch or dessert, but do not use them for any special events or cakes. Apparently they do wedding cakes, and baby shower cakes, etc. I just can't imagine being that stressed out again over their total lack of customer service and communication. I will never go back after the way were treated. We spent over $150 on everything for baby's birthday (i.e. cake, cupcakes, and smash cake). It is very disappointing they didn't value our business enough to call us back one time and offer a little...
Read moreBlue Rooster Bake Shop does not deserve any stars at all! I honestly can not believe the customer service that I just received with the Lawrenceville location right now! I am just so upset! First, I called with sufficient time to place a cake order with them ( 2 weeks), they took my order and said someone would call me to go over my order. I DID NOT get a call back from them for almost a week after (and thats because I had to call them, asking why someone is not calling me back! They asked what I was looking for, I told them and they said they would confirm with their cake artist. Almost another week passed and they are now telling me that they cannot do what I am asking for my cake (which is a few more flowers), because their artist has too much going for that weekend. So they waited to the last minute ( a few days before my daughter's 1st birthday) to tell me that they cannot service me! If I would have informed me from the start, that they could not provide what I was asking for, I would have been able to gone with another bake shop! I called them and begged if they can do a little more to my cake (which they declined), and after I told them that I was very dissatisfied with the service they provided me, the owner of the shop informed me that she will then not be taking my order at all. So basically, they did not like the fact that I expressed my dissatisfaction with their service and decided to leave me hanging (a few days before my daughter's birthday) WITH NO CAKE! What kind of customer service is that! They did not even apologize on the fact that it took them long to contact me and on the fact because they put my order on the back burner (when I had called with sufficient time), they could not do the cake that I was looking for. I have been in customer service for many many years, and the service they provided is unacceptable especially when you know that you could have gone to so many...
Read moreI had heard great things about Blue Rooster but had a disappointing experience last week. I arrived with my mom and fiance for a scheduled wedding cake tasting and we were told that the cake artist was not there. The associate who talked to us made it seem like this misunderstanding was our fault, even though I had written confirmation of the date and time in an email. I was told the cake artist had thought the appointment was a month ago (which would have been just days after it was scheduled) and that she had called me repeatedly to see what had gone wrong when we "missed" our appointment (since most of our communication was over email, I am not even sure if I ever gave her my number, and if she did have my correct phone number, she never left a voicemail). I was offered a new time for the next day and was told to call to reschedule, but my fiance and I live out of state and we had a flight the next day. Fortunately for us, we'd already had a good meeting with another bakery, so we decided to choose them over Blue Rooster. I am just disappointed in the poor customer service (making it seem like we messed up the time when it was confirmed in writing) and the poor attempt to make it right (putting the responsibility on us to reschedule, or change our schedule to accommodate Blue Rooster's schedule). I was also surprised that no one else at the shop offered to do the consult in place of the cake artist-even just providing cupcakes for us to eat and briefly reviewing pricing would have been helpful. We would have been happy to follow up with the cake artist later to go...
