Last night's concert on The Lawn was fairly enjoyable, with The Miami Sound Machine with Gloria Estefan's songs being sung, by a woman who was tone-deaf and was not a professional singer. She did more talking than singing, trying to get the crowd to 'come alive' and 'react!' We could have done both, if a 'real singer,' or professional singer had been on stage! But it was a free event, so I guess they figured we shouldn't have been complaining in the 1st place. The zillion food trucks weren't free!! Those folks took full advantage!! Most of the food trucks were foreigners selling their native foods. The Vietnamese truck named, 'My Vietnamese Food Truck,' food was totally unidentifiable. The grilled 'chicken strips' looked like frog legs, or some other animal. Some pieces had long narrow 2 inch expenditures hanging from them. The 'fried rice' wasn't fried, it was plain white rice, with a big 4" round ?egg? placed on top to hide the white rice. No drink came with it, and he charged $13.00 for that nasty food, which I had to throw away! So beware of this "slick" Vietnamese business! Being outside sitting in our lawn chairs with about 1,000 other folks, on a slightly cool evening, watching all the kids having fun, was okay for me, but we left shortly before it was over at 9 pm. Also, it was billed as Salsa music, but it was not. That's the only reason we went. Gloria Estefan is Cuban, not Puerto...
Read moreThe park is a great place to go as you're walking around Downtown Lawrenceville. I usually go around the evening when the night cools the day off. Even though the grass by the playground is synthetic, it is still soft and pleasant to walk and lay down on. Honestly even as a college student, or maybe more so because I am one, I really enjoy the unique sets the playground has to offer. The dodecahedron jungle gym is by far the most impressive I've seen from any playground park; that alone is worth the trip for me. As the name suggests, there's plenty of lawn, with real grass, to walk around during a nice romantic, after dinner date. Benches are plentiful and lighting is fair during the night. There's also two beach volleyball nets for those of you with competitive friends. The park has plenty of (free) parking and I'm sure the town of Lawrenceville will start to create more and more events as more people take interest...
