I am a part of a social group for special needs moms and most of our group made reservations to visit this location- only to be met with rude, unorganized and unprofessional service by the owner and staff. Upon the reservations, our group organizer spoke with an employee when booking to inform them of our large number. Half of our group made reservations online for the evening and others of us showed up as walk ins on this day; as walk ins were permitted and accounted for by the group organizer. We arrived about 15-20 minutes before our session was set to begin @7pm and was told to take a seat in front of an easel. We were given aprons and the outlines to our painting. For those of us that didn’t pay online we were told that we should take care of the payment in a moment. After our group of about 10-12 moms sat down this made the building space cramped and overcrowded- as there were 2 other tables with people being seated as well. The employees were unorganized and scrambling to draw additional outlines, pour paint and provide more easels and materials. After patiently waiting and observing the chaos we were met by Beverly- the owner who came out from the back in a panic and asked everyone in my group that hadn’t paid to come to the register. About 5 of us got up with our aprons on and stood in line to pay. At this same time a small group of ladies arrived 25 mins late. Beverly then asked my entire group of moms to get up from their easels so that this group of 4 ladies could be seated in our spot- because they had paid online. We asked her why it was necessary for our entire group to be removed from the table because those seated did in fact pay online and Beverly stated the late group of late-ladies had priority. Beverly then began to give a speech to the entire room speaking in 3rd person apologizing to everyone waiting stating that our group of 10-12 just showed up out of nowhere as walk ins and they were not expecting us. She was speaking to the room as if we were not standing there. Beverly was obviously overwhelmed and made us feel unwelcome. One of our moms demanded a refund and others of us just decided we would leave the session entirely. Beverly chased us outside and began crying crocodile tears asking our forgiveness and explaining that it is hard being a black business owner stating that she was overwhelmed this evening. We let her know that it was also hard being a special needs moms that got a babysitter to enjoy the evening only to have it ruined by her unprofessionalism. Beverly offered to have us back with a credit to her establishment, but the way she spoke about us in 3rd person in front of the entire room left us floored. I am not sure that myself or the group will take her up on her offer to visit her establishment again. She ruined our entire night...
Read moreFirst, let me start off by saying the first time I did a Girls Night out painting session at Painting with a Twist was in January. We had an Amazing time! We had an Absolute Blast!! We had such a good time that we came back for another painting session last night. We did the Sassy Saturday Girls night(Sassy Sunflower) I have to say, I was disappointed this time around. This painting instructor wasn’t as good as the first one we had. I felt like she was rushing us through the session instead of taking her time to show us what to do. We couldn’t hear her very well for those of us that were sitting in the back. And she kept turning the music up loud. Towards the end, she literally told me that I had to “wrap it up” because the session was over. Needless to say, my painting didn’t come out the way I wanted it to because I didn’t have a chance to finish working on it. I wasn’t pleased at all with this instructor’s demeanor or teaching style. I shouldn’t have to feel “rushed” doing art work, especially after I paid my hard earned money to come enjoy a night out with some girlfriends. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Not sure if I’ll go back. We’ll see what happens down the road.
Sincerely,
Rather Disappointed
An update to this post:
I spoke with the owner after I made this post. She listened to my complaint and concerns and graciously offered to make the session up. Her professionalism and customer service impressed me to take her up on her offer. I’m looking forward to my next painting session at Painting with a Twist.
Positive Vibes Only!!

Read moreVery fun night! But be prepared to spend more than 2 hours painting! It’s advertised that each class is 2 hours long, that is not the case! (Class was supposed to be 7:30 to 9:30) At the 2 hour mark, our “date night” class still had half a white canvas and about 1.5+ hours worth of more painting. (For context, the class next door looked to be nearly finished with maybe 30 minutes of painting left at their 2 hour mark. Very unfortunate we still had 50% white canvases.) My date and I had dinner plans, and could not stay until 11 PM to finish the painting, so we went home with half finished creations. (I have paint at home and finished mine the day afterwards). Had I known the class was gonna be longer than 2 hours, my date and I would’ve ordered dinner to-go to bring to the class.
Still would absolutely return again though to try some of the other fun options! (Definitely wanna go back to try the Barbie class!!) I would definitely try to see if I could pick a different instructor though— ours kinda scolded us if we strayed from the example painting she was doing or if we decided to work ahead. :/
The music/vibes also depend on the class you pick. The “date night” class had all an older crowd (40+ people) so the music was trash. But next door in the “girls night class” was current and up-beat pop music. I felt like I was at a family barbecue with the boring music they...
