Oaxaca Tacos and Tequila Bar — Restaurant in Lawrenceville

We were in the mood for Mexican food and decided to stop by it was my husband myself and our 4 kids . We walked in and noticed the whole place full of smoke but decided to wait. I guess you can say first red flag. We were sat down in a small table they just added two chairs to the ends where we felt crowded all in the corner. The doors at this point are still open letting out all the air conditioning and letting in flies . We ordered our food and ass we are finishing ordering I notice the brunch menu and I asked the waitress if she could change my order . She told me she had already sent the order to the kitchen and couldn’t change it. I was pretty bummed bc I had just order a Caesar salad and wanted to try something on the brunch . She said she would ask the manager if she could change the order which I thought that’s doing too much I had literally just told her 6 secs after taking the order if she could change it but I just told her to leave it like that since she made it a big deal . My husband had ordered a michelada and when she came around the second time to ask for refills he asked for just a beer . She came back with another michelada. We were like ok? Then at the end they charge you with a hand held device that doesn’t show they are charging you 18% tip . I’m ok with giving tip but not when the service is not good . OMG! I usually notice something that needs improvements, but honestly, this place is wonderful! The service is great. They are very nice and keep asking if something else is needed. I didn't know this place existed until I was disappointed looking for other close by restaurants. Wow, the experience, the exquisite of the quality and flavor I have never experienced before. I don't know from where or who supply their meats, but they are 1st quality. Super flavored and soft carne asada, for me, is more like Brazilian picanha! We ordered enchiladas of mole oaxaqueño the most rich flavor and perfect combination of spicy and sweet. Im an expert on enchiladas, I know what it takes to make perfect enchiladas from scratch. The "churros" are another surprise experience, 3 big pieces with melted chocolate, filled with cajeta and vanilla ice cream! Yes, ice cream! I have never thought about such a combination. I love it! Also, the ice cream was a very good crafted one. Looks like they right have original cocineras from Oaxaca in their kitchen!! 😃😀💝💖 100% Recommended! It's hard to find another place like this. Atlanta metro area has grown so much and so fast that many restaurants don't pay attention to the detail. God bless this place, owners and employees, and hopefully stay many years as same quality. If you're looking for a good sit-down environment with some friends in Lawrenceville, Oaxaca should probably be on the list. I don't have the same friend group as I once had because all my friends chose my wife's side in th divorce... EVEN THOUGH, shes not even good at making friends! So go figure. But if you want a chill atmosphere, with some decent food, where you can relax and take some time off, Oaxaca can check some boxes. I had been very good at finding places for us and our friends to eat and hang out in the past, but I guess those are not qualities my former friends would covet. Well good luck to them enjoying places with long wait times, and over priced drinks accompanied by disdain for decency and marital values! Enjoy hearing long drawn out stories about how "everyone at work isn't as smart as her"... It's like, calm down miss high and mighty, you teach 3rd grade. I swear it's like I got a scarlet letter "D" on my chest after this whole fiasco.

But any who. OAXACA, relaxing decent food, and decent service. It's a typical Mexican restaurant with some touches that take it a little beyond the cliche.

If I broke it down I'd say my score reflects 3.5 on food and atmosphere and service are 4. Taking into mind 2.5 is average. So yeah above average place with some decent parking in back and Front, and a good environment for old friends, or new ones depending on...
