About a month ago, three family members and I decided to eat something to kill 45 minutes of waiting time for a movie to begin across the street. The site I had visited was also located off of Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd. As we approached the restaurant, we scanned the area to view only nine cars total with two at the drive-through. We decided this was the closest as well as fastest food choice when considering our options. Finally, at the window we received our food after six minutes of waiting only to discover 2 of 4 orders to be completely wrong. We ended up wasting 30 whole minutes due to this location failing to meet the standards of your everyday fast food restaurant. The experience I recently had at this nearby Steak n’ Shake restaurant proved to be very disappointing. The overall value this Steak n’ Shake location has for its customers is unbelievably low. The way in which we were handled at the drive through line was somewhat unprofessional. This extends from the pacing of an almost empty line, to the way our full order ultimately failed in being delivered. One would have to think this Steak n’ Shake to be a bit overrated even with its rating of almost four stars. By the time we all reached the side window, the female cashier was absolutely clueless. In that moment, I realized just how little the staff truly valued their customers and community as a whole that evening. This half effort is the main reason as to why this particular restaurant is not worth wasting your money or time on to begin with in the first place. When you think of the quality and service of any given restaurant you would expect it to be fairly decent if not better. Sadly, none of characteristics can say they apply to this Steak n’ Shake location. While waiting for food that should have already been halfway done, the various cashiers all argued as to who should deliver said food. Anyone could find out right off the bat that their staff was slowly, if not already, falling apart from the inside. The fact that everyone in a restaurant has a specific tasks or duty assigned to them and are trying to decide who does what is anything but reassuring. One could assume the quality of the food itself may not be that great either from behind the kitchen. Even the food my family received were missing two entire orders even though we waited for quite some time. I would think 25 minutes would be plenty of time to prepare a meal, as well as serve out the right order at the same. With only three cars to deal with and less than five tables to tend to, I would just hope this situation wouldn’t happen of a “fast” day. This brings me to what is probably one of the most important aspects of any given restaurant: the operation and execution of the order. The way in which any fast food chain should carried out is by just that, as fast as possible. The excuse of having people on both the outside and inside is all the more reason why this chain should have reconsidered its occupation a little more. At the time we had chosen to visit that Steak n’ Shake, it was in the evening around late five or six o’clock on a Tuesday. This was around the time the occasional rush-hour would just be coming to an end. On top of that, Tuesday for an everyday Steak n’ Shake is rather slow than most other days, almost like a Monday. Any customer choosing to dine here on a normal day will quickly come to the conclusion that this classic diner’s inefficiency will be a decisive factor when choosing somewhere else to eat. I think the Steak n’ Shake on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd is a little bit overrated when compared to other restaurant options. This is solely due to the constant issues centered its effort, quality, and general execution of fast-food duties. If these problems can somehow be resolved in the near future, I could see this restaurant overcoming theses flaws to accurately match its...
Read moreI stopped in at Steak and Shake close to midnight with my wife, two sons, and two of our friends following a movie at AMC across the street. We were promptly seated but waited 10 to 15 minutes at our table before our server attended us. There were approximately 5 other tables seated in the dining room and I counted 3 servers on the floor. Our server, Adonnys, took our drink orders and upon returning with our drinks, as he was handing out our beverages with his left hand and balancing his tray full of drinks with his right, he knocked over a glass of Sprite into the lap of one of my friends. As he reached to pick up the glass, he then dumped the full tray of remaining beverages onto our table, my friend, and the floor. He asked if we were ok with moving to a new table and we were all good sports about it. He brought replacement beverages and took our orders. During our more than 35 minute wait for our food, our server never returned to clean his mess at the adjacent table that he had made. He sat at the bar, pulled out his phone several times, talked with co-workers, and even danced a little but never once did he check on our drinks nor return to clean the mess that he had made. When our food finally arrived, our server said, “Sorry for the delay and all that. Our kitchen is really backed up as you can see.” From our observation, there was no hustle and bustle going on in the kitchen. Several employees had stepped out the front door to smoke a cigarette in full view of the lobby and public. But the kitchen was not backed up “as we could see”. Most of the other customers had already received their orders before we even placed ours. Here’s where it gets interesting: This restaurant is called Steak n SHAKE. My friend (the one who had the drinks spilled in his lap) asked to order a peanut butter milkshake after our server set out our food. The server returned a few minutes later and said, “I’d like to apologize but we do not currently have any milkshakes, right now. Our milkshake guys are gone.” We were perplexed!!! We decided just to eat our meal, pay and leave. Upon paying, we asked the manager what happened with the milkshakes? He told us, “Oh, they’re available, now! We were just cleaning the machines.” Wow.... As my wife put it, the service was “nightmare-ish”! This is by far the worst Steak n Shake I have ever been to - and quite possibly the worst service I have ever witnessed. We will not return and I would advise against a visit to...
Read moreThe absolute worst restaurant experience EVER! The manager, Dora is absolutely disgusting. Literally. She was so rude and beyond unprofessional. After we ordered our food the waitress may have rang it up incorrectly therefore went to her manager, Dora for assistance. Dora then approached our table to clarify what we ordered. She said the waitress had taken our order incorrectly. We ordered 3 burger meals, one with the milkshake promo they have for an extra 99 cents. and 2 kids meals. We added 3 cups of chili for $1.49 and 2 kids sides of Mac n cheese for 99 cents. Mind our food had just arrived and we were eating. Dora proceeds to tell us that the chili with the milkshake meal would be full price ($2.29) (literally 70 cents more, not that serious) because of the milkshake promo, which was fine. She had a horrible attitude and said so what do you want to do? Are you going to keep it or do you want me to take it? I was shocked at her question as my son was clearly eating it! I asked why her waitress didn’t clarify that before taking the order and delivering it? She proceeds to take the cup of chili out of his hands and takes it and walked away! Half of our food hadn’t arrived, and by that point some were almost done eating. I proceed to go see her and ask her where is the rest of our food, and also told her that what she had done earlier was very rude and unprofessional. I guess she didn’t like that and started backtalking me and wouldn’t let me speak. I was very calm and spoke to her with complete respect. I asked her for her manager’s name and she refused to give it to me. I asked her to write her name on my receipt and she said she wouldn’t write it, and I could do it if I wanted it. She then walked away and left me standing there. She proceeded to yell at her employees. She may have been having a bad day judging her initial approach and how she treated her employees. I asked the cook who saw everything what the store manager’s name was and he said Tim but he look horrified, maybe because he didn’t want to get in trouble for telling me. The hostess approached me and whispered his name was Tim and asked me to please not tell her she gave me his name. I said don’t worry you’re not in trouble and I’m sorry you have to work under her management. Clearly Dora is not fit to be a manager and does not need to be working in a leadership position, and one that deals directly...
