I Hop in Lawton has poor service, and needs to hire a cashier so the servers can spend their time taking care of the customers. When we entered the restaurant, it looked fairly empty; however, the hostess led us to the back booth against the back wall. It was crowded. People were being seated at the back of the restaurant for some reason, and there were plenty of seats available in the front. Our server came & we ordered our coffee and water and meal. We were brought coffee and no water, and we thought maybe she was bringing the water with the meal. Our meals were delivered by another staff member, maybe kitchen staff? I kept looking for our server to get the water and coffee refill. Our server never returned to our table. We repeatedly looked for our server, and she was busy with other customers in another area of the restaurant not close to us, or at the register at the front of the restaurant, and I could not get her attention. Other people had coffee decanters on their table, and other servers were in our area serving their customers. We would have been happy to have had a coffee decanter as some other tables had, but we did not know why we were not given one. Our food was delicious, but we were thirsty. We never even got our check after we finished so we walked to the front to pay out where our server was at the register. We said, we are ready to check out, and she said, "Who was your server?" I said, " You were". I told her about our lack of coffee & water and no check, and she said, "Sorry, and I said not your fault, this is poor management. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager said there is no cashier, they make their own change from the register. I told her it was not working very well, because they are so busy running to the front of the restaurant making change they are not serving customers. The manager had nothing else to say about that. We were waiting for our change, again, waiting and I told my husband let's go it's not worth it. The server came running out of the restaurant trying to give us our money back for the meal, but I told her that this was not her fault, there is something wrong with the organization. I-Hop has been my favorite, and I do hope something changes about the way they are serving customers. That is why I spent time writing...
Read moreMy husband and I go to this location pretty regularly since it is close to where he works. We arrived at about 10:20. There was one group ahead of us and three that came in after us. It took about 15 minutes before we were seated and they had to clean tables for people to be sat. We made a simple order: mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, bacon cheeseburger with no lettuce, tomato, or onion, and a Belgian waffle combo with over medium eggs and bacon. Around 30 minutes later, our mozzarella sticks came out and were hot. Coffee refills were infrequent. While we waited, the group from in front of us finished their meal and left as did one of the (relatively large) groups that came in after us. This was all before we received our food. Over an hour after we ordered, our food arrived. What made my husband super angry was that a group that arrived and ordered after we did got their orders before we got ours. When our orders finally did arrive, my husband's food was cold and mine was only warm. We ate it because we did not want it wasted or to wait for it to be corrected. It was already almost midnight. As we started eating, yet another group that arrived after us finished and left. A long wait can be the result of a backed up kitchen. Cold food is entirely on the server. Our server came back one more time and fished through tickets until she found ours and gave it to us. She never came back to the table to check on us or to see if we needed any more to drink. We only saw her again when it was time to pay the check. I reminded my husband to show his veteran ID so we could get "some compensation for this BS service". Our check started out at over $36 and the discount dropped it to $32. Husband tipped 10% of the discounted total when we usually tip over 20% of the original total. I completed the survey indicated on the check saying we were less than satisfied and requesting that we be contacted regarding our poor experience. We will see if that actually happens. It is extremely unlikely that we will go back anytime in the near future if at all. If we need to eat somewhere late night on a weekend, we'll go to...
Read moreI had read the reviews for this establishment and decided to visit on our last road trip to Lawton yesterday OCT 13, 2018. We only go to Lawton every 3 months if that often. So our to our unexpected surprise our visit in NO way reflected the reviews I had read.
We walked in and had to wait for a long time to be seated, while watching various servers meandering about, one stated to another that she couldn't seat us because she had "No Clean Tables" to seat us at, but she did nothing to attempt to clean a table for us.
Once we finally DID get seated (at a table that was wiped down but remained sticky and unclean), our server was very polite, it took a little bit but we got our order placed, he brought us our drinks, after 15 minutes or so he brought us refills and stated our food would be out shortly and politely apologized for the delays. At this same time a younger family came in and seated in the booth next to us, their children were small preschool aged and very typical as far as child behavior is, nothing bad, just typical.
We sat another 10 minutes or so and had not received our meals, our server was noticeably not pleased with what ever was going on and again apologized for the delay, about 5 minutes later the young family received their meals. At this point, I left five US Dollars on the table to pay for our drinks and we walked out.
NOONE on the staff did more than watch us leave and the manager was at the register when we left and she did not even ask us how our visit was or say goodbye come again...nothing at all. I will very likely not solicit this particular IHOP ever again. This restaurant may very well be everything the nice reviews stated however It was NOT for my family yesterday.
This the first time I have ever had a negative visit to an IHOP establishment across the Nation...
