UPDATE: After posting the review below I thought to call the store to pass along my feedback thinking they’d appreciate it. My call and concerns were taken courteously. I figured I’d check out the rolls a weeks later. I was so happy this morning when I walked in to see the cinna rolls “thickly” iced like the good ole days (also with a few on the side that were sparingly iced/no icing for those who don’t have a super sweet tooth)!! Thank you Kolache Bakery for listening! You made my morning! 😊 These are truly the best cinna rolls around. This is a true Czech style bakery serving real kolaches (traditionally fruit filled pastries but they also make a Nutella filled đŸ€€) as well as “Texas Kolaches” (pig-n-the-blankets). We love the regular hotdog type sausage for a milder taste but the smoked polish sausage pigs are perfection! Don’t miss out on their seasonal baked goods, especially around the holidays (pies, bread etc) as well as their “Day Old” sales where you’ll find great deals on their leftover items from the day before wrapped up nicely and stocked in their refrigerator up front. “This place used to have THE best cinnamon rolls but under the new ownership they aren’t as good. They don’t put enough icing. The original owner used to serve them with a nice thick layer of icing. Hopefully they take note of this and stick to her original recipe.”

Every time I visit Houston, I'm always on the hunt for the tastiest kolaches. We stopped by here as a local alternative to the chain across the street, and we were not disappointed! The current owners recently took over from the original owner of over 30 years, but they have retained her original recipes. The motto says their kolaches are fluffy, not stuffy, and that is an accurate description! The bread is soft and fluffy, and does not feel heavy after you eat it like some kolaches. The interior has had a recent refresh, and the owners told us they are installing a coffee bar soon as well. If you're in League City, give them a try, but come early if you want the best selection!

What a delight!! I asked Taylor, the owner, to just give me a huge box of anything she picked and everything was AMAZING. She put in an assortment of every flavor of the fruit kolaches. Every single one was fantastic, the dough is addicting. She added the ham and cheese and sausage kolaches, we couldn’t stop eating. She also added a long pastry with (I think) raspberry filling and a little bit of frosting. I have no idea what it was but it was divine, I took a picture to make sure we get it again next time! Thank you Taylor, we can’t wait to come back and try everything else you have!

I've been going to this place since I was a child and it's time I give a review.

First off, the namesake. These are the best kolaches I have had anywhere in Texas and I have tried a lot. These are not pre mix dough that you find in 99% of donut shops. These are handmade in shop, you can see how much goes into these things just standing in the lobby. The dough is light and fluffy with just a touch of sweetness. The outside is slightly flakey, the most minimal crunch that sets up the bite for the warm, soft inside. The sausage inside is a great ratio of meat to bread with just the right amount of cheese. Shes been doing this a long time and has it down to a science. Her slogan of "Fluffy, not stuffy" is accurate, you can down a lot of these things and not have that heavy bread feeling that you get with the premix kolaches.

Secondly, this place is family, the owner is almost always there to make sure the quality is consistent and her kids are often helping bake or working the counter. Her employees always seem happy and you can tell that they take pride in there work.

I know Shipley's is across the street and if you are craving donuts... Fine. But when you want a really special kolache, nobody matches Kolache Bakery. This is a truly special home grown business and every person in League City should at least try this place out.

Just as a last kicker, she also makes incredible cinnamon rolls.

Support this wonderful...

I have been coming to this bakery ever since I was a little girl back in 2006/2007. The kolaches are always superb, great quality & price, and fast. They still remember me each time I come in!! The space is small but every single kolache lives up to the "Fluffy not stuffy" standard. Anytime someone has not tried it, I always recommend it. The staff is always super quick even if there's a line. I never wait longer than 5-7 minutes. Each batch is made fresh each morning and are lovely. My personal favorites are the strawberry & cream cheese mix kolache and the polish sausage kolache. Everything is worth a try and truly has captivated my heart over the past 10 years. Every birthday and special occasion, we order here. From the packaging to the workers, this little bakery truly captures the small-business local town bakery with each pastry truly being made with love...
