A quaint little mom and pop spot in the heart of League City that has some of the best like home cooked Mexican food anywhere! I usually stop in for breakfast on weekends and get Barbacoa, or Fajita tacos, and a bowl of Menudo. Their Menudo is just like the Menudo I had growing up with friends of mine!! They have other breakfast items as well, you can get plates with eggs, potatoes, and beans. Breakfast burritos with ingredients of your choice. They also serve lunch. Really great food for a reasonable price. July 22, 2024 Update!!! They are Back!!!! Everyone that was familiar with Silverio and his wife's place before it was taken out by a car knew their food was the best!!! It took them a little while to recover from that devastating blow to their business and Recover they have!!! This all happened before we moved two hours away almost three years ago now. I had saw they were open via their FB page and couldn't wait to come to town to check out their new place! Today was the day! They have a really nice parking lot now and much spacier! I was glad to see that the parking was full of cars when I pulled in! I walked through the louvered area which is real 3 an open air covered patio area protected by walls and louvers with plenty of tables! But today everyone was inside through another door in the A/C!!! When I walked in I was amazed at how much more room there was, but it was really nice as well!!! Plenty of tables and booths. An order area and they now accept credit/debit cards. There is a really nice overhead menu board with pictures! Under the menu board is an open bar that you can see through to see what's going on in the kitchen. The cooks prepare orders while you go find your seat. They will call your number that is on your order receipt and you raise your hand so they can see where you're seated and bring it to you! They also still have the Condiments bar towards the back next to the exit door with the Salsas, onions and Cilantro, Pico, diced tomatoes, onions, and Jalapenos. Next to those are the free pinto beans and cups that you can have with your meal while you're waiting on your order! The drinks are in a cooler next to the order counter. The food is even better in my opinion than it was before and it was really good then!!! It just seems even better now, or I just really missed them being gone so long!!! I think it's probably because I've been looking forward to this day for more than three years skiing with the rest of the customers that have always loved the food here and those that heard about it from before the wreck and never had the chance to try it!!! I could tell by the full parking lot everyone is really excited to have their favorite breakfast and lunch taco food place back in business!!!! I'm so glad they are back!!! My wife and me both have really missed our breakfast here!...
Read moreLa India Bonita - I won't lie that I was actually hoping for some Indian food seeing the brand building name, but it is an authentic/roots Mexican Cantina with real homemade healthy food. The best chip salsa 😋... it reminds me of my youth 50 years ago in Coloado, and it is not the typical chain variety salsa. I ordered and made a carnitas gravy plate, no rice, with the fresh chopped charcutrements from the salsa bar. I ate the large chunks of jalepenos in the salsa fresca, yum, and I was in cilantro bliss. There were no eye rolling stares for wanting a little extra beans, salsa or cilantro. Great variety at the salsa bar. 🤤 My son had a barbacoa burrito which he devoured, and even prompted him to start speaking spanish because he felt so comfortable eating here, yeah! I had read the opening reviews about the charro beans, and I was blown away by the amazing juice and meat flavor 😍. I will ask my husband to pick up beans next time I'm under the weather. We did not spend $100 which was a pleasant surprise for a family of four with two ravengeous teenage boys. We had to stop one of them from wanting to order more. Next time he needs to order beyond a plateful of 1 beef fajita and 2 cheese enchiladas! I was not disappointed, and I will be back for the beans to take home. Atmosphere, art work, family, food, and the warm weather even added an authentic experience. This restaurant reminded me of my Luna de Miel in Puerto Vallarta, San Diego cantinas that the locals hide, and from Denver the salsa, this restaurant serves good food. We have a treasure here in League City. I highly recommend the food, I had no sneezing as I do from restaurants due to air conditioner venting blowing dust and debris in the air, and the restaurant is family friendly. There were three large families...
Read moreAfter a long anticipated comeback, La India Bonita fell far from short. It breaks my heart writing such a review since I was rooting for them but I don't think it'd be fair to be biased.
My order was a breakfast burrito, chorizo & eggs, potatoes as an addition. Along with a Mexican coke.
Boy o boy, where do I start? The chorizo, eggs, and potatoes were bland. There was barely any flavor, which is hard to mess up considering chorizo and eggs normally pack a punch but this chorizo and eggs never showed up to the fight. The flour tortilla... well it wasn't made from scratch, the taste screamed store bought.
Salsas are also a very tasty condiment that can make or break the order and their salsa broke the order down even more. It lacked so much flavor and tasted a bit sour as well. I wouldn't be surprised if the salsa was already reaching it's expiration point but was still being reused. I hope they can take the moment to make sure all the salsas are up to date & fresh.
Lastly, I can't believe I'm saying this but the Mexican coke cap was way too rusty and there was even some rust on the lip once taking the cap off, not to mention there was barely any carbonation in the soda.
Overall, as much as I was rooting for La India Bonita's comeback, it just didn't happen. Even though they've been a LC tradition, I'm still waiting for the flavorful food from the OG La India Bonita to make a return. Only...
