Lunas South Shore, League City really disappointed me tonight. I was there with a good friend having nachos like we always do and enjoying myself until..... I ordered the kids fajita chicken quesadillas for my kid to go. I asked if chips and salsa came with it which they normally do and IVAN told me no. Hmm, I was actually stunned that for the first time in 7 years of coming here the chips and salsa weren't included. I asked for some and he chose to charge me $4.50 for a pint of red salsa and $4.95 for a pint of the nasty green sauce. First of all, why would I need a whole pint of sauces for a small kids meal? Also, a drink is supposed to come with it that I never received. When I saw the charges, I immediately told IVAN he was ripping me off and I wasn't going to pay that and he needed to take it off. I was furious! My bill with those charges was $21.91 FOR A KIDS MEAL!!! Once the charges were taken off and he brought the to go order there weren't any chips in there. If IVAN had any sort of guest service courtesy or knowledge at all, he should have told me he could bag up the remaining chips we had in front of us left over and brought a small to go cup for the full dish of red salsa that was left. I had to ask the busser for it.
IVAN could have received at least a $10 tip from me, but since he tried to rip me off he got $2 for that bill. It was only an $11 bill. I also gave him another $5 tip for my portion of the nachos bill. He didn't deserve it in my opinion, but I just can't stiff a restaurant person. I know the industry inside and out and know it's a tough gig.. I don't know about anyone else, but I am personally so sick of horrible service in this area. I suppose it has to do with a huge lack of guest service training. 😕 Hey IVAN, maybe if you actually smile and have any sort of a personality you would make better tips! If you are there next time we come in...
Read moreVisited here I was pleasantly greeted at the door by the host and noticed a nice Christmas tree by the entrance. Misty was my server and after asking for recommendations provided 4.
Was instantly given chips with red and green salsa. The chips were fresh and warm and wonderful. The salsa was lacking in flavor and was very watery, so if you like chunky salsa too bad. The green salsa wasn't creamy, I was not a fan. The red salsa seemed like whoever made it thought mayo was spicy cause this thing had no heat or flavor.
A short while later I order the Laredo Dinner. The turn around on this was so fast I couldn't believe it. The food plates came in two rounds (enchiladas, beans, rice came ~10 minutes after).
They used what seemed a mixture of American and cheddar. Which was not melted or even warm. The cheese on this was ice cold. They load these up with big dices of tomato, a tiny bit of lettuce and about half a handful of cheese. After trying the taco the beef of the taco it was piping hot and after cooling a little didn't really have any flavor. It was just a bland taco and could've benefited from more meat and less sauce.
The enchiladas finally arrived and I was warned the plate was very hot. Got a refill on my drink without asking which was nice. Had to ask for extra napkins since I was only given one. The plate itself was okay. The rice was delicious the beans were mediocre and the enchiladas just needed more flavor, but weren't bad.
Overall this Luna's customer service is wonderful. Specially Misty, she took wonderful care of me.
The food is lackluster though. This could become a great place if they tweak the flavor of the food, and by all means fix the salsa by...
Read moreMexican food in Texas usually falls into 2 categories. Authentic or Tex-Mex. This restaurant does not fall under either category. I got the enchiladas with Chipotle sauce with rice and charro beans. The rice was over cooked, mushy, and was covered in salt as its only seasoning. That "charro beans" were basically baked beans with tomato being its primary flavor profile. No cumin, cilantro, or other spices/herbs you would associate with this dish were prevalent. As for the enchiladas, the shredded chicken was dry as a desert. The Chipotle sauce tasted like they just took a can of Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, threw it in a blender, and called it a day. It is obvious that there is no chef in this restaurant or there is one who doesn't care enough to serve quality food. We finished our waters before our entrees came out and did not get a refill until after we had been served our entrees. The establishment was very slow and there should be no excuse for terrible service like that. It appears that the "manager " was just standing around collecting a paycheck without a care in the world. He did not move 1 inch the entire time we were in there. He never checked on any tables. The sad part is that this restaurant has a beautiful ambiance and amazing location. They had such a stunning set up inside the restaurant. Tables and bar were beautiful. They have the tools to set themselves up for success with these, but have been failing to do so. Will try again in the future to see if they make any improvements on their current lack...
