While I love shopping at HEB, Friday afternoon is perhaps not the best time! Around 3 o clock, I became increasingly unsettled. When I stopped and listened and looked around my shopping experience had been brought to a screeching halt! Due to the running of children up and down aisles and screaming at their parents and each other from multiple areas of the store. Please don't get me wrong I think kids are great we have grown up children of our own and grandchildren. I also understand why oftentimes parents must take their children to the grocery store while they do their shopping. Those of us who have children no matter what age have had to take our children grocery shopping with us. Yet when I see a mother with three children in the cart one on the baby seat two in the basket and three other children walking alongside and the youngest appearing child in the baby seat will not stop screaming and the mother is paying no attention until one of the young girls in the shopping cart starts also screaming at the mother because the young child won't stop screaming. This was one example of at least a dozen that overtook the store at a little after 3 o clock. I will now only shop at this HEB during the late morning hours and certainly never again on a Friday! I am not sure why this family of 6 no actually seven including mom and six kids is allowed to go up and down every aisle screaming at the top of their lungs and Mom just pushed the cart. Is it against societal rules for a management type person to quietly speak to the mother about the bad behavior of the children? In hopes that she would at least pay attention and make an effort to make them stop screaming? The selection at the store is awesome the employees are all very friendly although I did have to wait for more than 5 minutes for someone to help me at the seafood counter, other than running and screaming Wee Ones it was a great shopping trip...
Read moreLast week I rented a Bissell carpet cleaner, rental includes an extra $40 deposit you get back when you return the machine. I paid and that’s all I was told. I work Monday so I had to complete it all the same day and bring it back the same day. Great…or so I thought. Coming back with the machine at 4:50pm. They close at 5pm. Again I only really used it for a couple hours. Cleaned it as I continued using. The employee at the customer service told me I brought it back dirty. Mind you I’ve never really been told anything prior how to bring it back. No other paperwork was given to me that day. She stated “heb does not clean the Bissell carpet cleaner, we only rent them out to customers, and it’s the customer’s job to hose the bottom part of the brushes down” & I was told that because I signed a waiver that NO ONE ever reads. I did quickly sign and understood in writing I must bring it back Or get charged a whole bunch of money if I don’t bring it back. I responded honestly I live in apartment complex, I don’t have a hose or want to risk hosing down a machine that I can potentially break by “hosing it down” I rent the machine for the sole purpose of cleaning my carpet I have no other direction in the machine that told me to “hose it down” I did in fact grab a wipe and did the curtesy of cleaning the bottom part with a wipe prior to returning it. But she stated that wasn’t enough. Keep this in mind if you ever think of renting a machine at HEB. They made a complete huge deal over $40. And the nonsense of how dirty I left a machine. They ridiculed me over how maybe some dirt remained, they put their fingers there on the brush and no dirt on their fingers. They brought in a manger to tell me I will get $40 back but to keep in mind in the future to “hose the bottom part” before returning the machine. I’ve rented machines before this had never been a issue on my end with another store...
Read moreHEB in-house coupon scam alert. Since I keep having the same issue with HEB in-store coupons, today I came prepared, I held my ground at check-out, stood up for myself, followed through with my coupon that wasn't honored! No one should have to hassle over "in-store coupon(s)"! EVER! HEB puts their in-house coupons throughout the store on select items, coupons are located immediately by said product. So, like today, I picked up HEB toilet paper, mainly because of the "$1 off coupon. I have been burned NUMEROUS times by HEB in-store coupons, getting home, looking at receipt, seeing that coupon was not honored at check out, THUS, NO SAVINGS! Today, at check-out, I held my $1 coupon, my total due was $23.50. Before payment, I presented $1 coupon to cashier, she kept saying computer/cash register wouldn't "allow coupon". Cashier said she would "force coupon through". $1 savings still did NOT come off total! Cashier told me at that point, that I would just need to go to customer service. Making customers hassle with HEB in-store coupons at register & then sending them to customer service is pathetic! I did go to customer service today, because I know the scam. The customer service rep immediately gave me a $1 BILL. This HEB coupon scam happens to me every time I try to use HEB in-house coupon. So, my best advice, hold your HEB in-store coupon until your presented with amount due, THEN, do as I did today, steps listed above. Always check your HEB receipt! Or, go shop somewhere else! No store should scam customers into buying certain products with false...
