Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Lebanon

This location needs to have their franchisee rights pulled from them. Coming from Springfield on and off to see my mother, one day came through and got three orders totaling around $25. The frisco melt seemed more like an open face sandwich than a burger. My double cheeseburger looked like someone took a bite out of the meat because whenever the meat broke apart obviously they didn't put it back together they just left the meat off the burger. My daughter's chicken strips could have been used as a weapon to knock someone out. After leaving Lebanon heading back towards Springfield we got our food out of the bag and realized that it was the way that I previously described. We immediately called the store and was told that the next time we return our meals would be replaced. Gave them our names and thought that that was all that was needed to be done. Came back through tonight ordered two meals versus three males and had previously called the store before I got there to make sure that my credit was still valid before I got off the highway. Steven said yeah your name's right here it's fine come on in so I did. After getting to the drive through he goes back and forth from the back to the front window and then comes back and tells me that unfortunately since it was a while ago and the paper with my name on it had been lost there was nothing he could do . Now mind you that the food had already been made and was already bagged up and was either going to go into an employee's mouth or the trash can or maybe the person behind me who knows. So instead of honoring your word and replacing my orders the food you made was either discarded or given away anyways. That bag of food cost this Lebanon location three customers for life. I will make sure that anyone I know that is from this area never comes to this steak and shake. Word of mouth is a big thing. I spent four years as a general manager myself of a restaurant. And there is no way that I would ever treat any of my customers the way they treated me. Honestly Steven can be trained to communicate a little better. The words we speak is not the only only language we have, what you say with your tone and your body language also speaks volumes. I understand that people take advantage of the situation but that is not the case and you can't treat what may be a potentially good customer that way because you have bad ones Honestly the bad ones will be known to you because they do it time and time again. We frequent all of our Springfield locations whether it's the one on Campbell or National and even Glenstone. If you want a great Steak and Shake experience it's right here in Springfield. If your stuck in Lebanon, Wendys has a $4 menu too. We love steak and shake. But we'll never visit the Lebanon...

I write a lot of reviews, but every now and then, a place stands out enough that it deserves extra recognition. This Steak 'n Shake in Lebanon is one of those places. From the moment I walked in, the staff went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience. It’s not often you see a team that’s not only efficient but also genuinely friendly and welcoming. The employees here actually seem to enjoy their jobs, and that positive energy makes a difference. My server was attentive, kept my drink filled, and made sure everything was just right without being intrusive.

As for the food, Steak 'n Shake has always been known for serving quality meals at affordable prices, and this location absolutely delivers. The steakburgers were fresh, hot, and cooked perfectly—exactly what you hope for when you stop in. And for the price? You really can’t beat it. With so many fast food places raising prices without improving quality, it’s refreshing to see a restaurant that still focuses on value.

UPDATE: September 4th, 2025 Girl working the drive thru window doesn't know how to count change! She's Very Rude, Hard to Understand, hands drinks out that I would NEVER put in my car without completely wiping down first, and completely messed up my husband's order. She was Mad and giving my husband dirty looks because she tried to hand him 2 drinks with stuff completely dripping off of them! She should NOT be working with Customers, at All! My husband said that he was not going back! NOONE should have to Deal with a RUDE employee who can't effectively do her job, at all! He had her another time & complained to the Manager because she was Rude & Dismissive & gave him the Wrong Change! She's definitely Not Cashier material! *Steak N Shake Now has DELICIOUS BEEF TALLOW FRIES which are Healthier for You and Taste Great! ALWAYS Love the Frisco Melt! Good Service & Clean Inside!
