Went again today and had perfect service and food was decent. Earned another star.
*Update 1- First watch did reach out, apologize and offered to send me some gift cards if I would try them again. Those cards arrived yesterday so I will be giving them another shot- one star added because they care- will re-evaluate after I try them again. TL:DR- skip it- run away. Kitchen is screwed and you will wait forever
First and last time at first watch. We went this morning (Friday morning) at 9:50am. We had waited several weeks to make sure they had all the kinks worked out and tried it on a weekday. First the good- We were seated right away. The décor was very nice, bright and open. The menu was large and complete. many of the dishes sounded really good. There was a lot of wait staff who were very attentive. The dish my wife got (some sort of hash with eggs and fresh spinach) was very good according to her, I did not taste it. I asked for a recommendation from the waitress and she provided one. I took it, the hash with the Mexican street corn and chorizo on the seasonal menu. Now the bad: Although seated into a 60% full dining room right away and our order was taken right away, we waited over 40 min for our simple two dish meal (plus million dollar bacon). My wifes hash came out after 40 min along with the million dollar bacon. My dish was no where. I waited another 5 min where my wife dug in and finally mine came out. In the interim we tried the bacon and it was floppy, WAY too sweet and somewhat tasteless. There was no spice (cyan was mentioned) so we sent it back as inedible. When i got my meal they were kind enough to leave off the Mexican crema as I asked. They also left off all cheese and chorizo as well. Basically one proper over medium egg and one that was just fried with no yolk. No meat, no cheese and very little corn. Afraid of never getting another meal, or a check I went to the wait stand and complained about my "hash" that was no more than a lot of potatoes and screwed up eggs. I was rather terse as I had run out of patience. I was hoping this would earn a visit from some sort of manager. None came. Waitress came back and was very upset (I should mention she checked on us every 10 min or so as we waited for food) and said our meal was comped. I asked to speak with a manager to try and understand if I should return or if this was normal. She told us the manager could not talk to us, THEY WERE TOO BUSY COOKING. So the meal was very wrong, very late and not good. I should mention that when I went to the wait stand they had a LOT of staff there, waiters/waitress, bus staff and so forth. I am stunned at how bad the kitchen did here. Honestly even with good service, if I cannot get food I order, what...
Read moreCame in on a Sunday, and boy was it packed! I had "gotten in line" for a table online with an estimated table availability from 45 minutes to an hour and 15 minutes wait time. I was hoping for a 45-minute one to an hour wait time, but they did end up seating us a little over an hour and 15 minutes of the estimated wait time. It wasn't that big of a deal really, but I was a little bit impatient because I was starving.
The staff were really friendly and calm, especially during a really busy time. I appreciated the staff's patience while I was a little bit hangry! They were quick and pretty good with the table turnovers as well. The dining area and the tables were all fairly clean even halfway through a busy Sunday morning and a full dining area. The only thing I would've liked was to have been checked on a little sooner after getting our food because I needed my water to be refilled. It took me a couple tries to get our server's attention so I can ask for more water.
It's a great spot for breakfast or brunch for small or big groups. It wasn't too loud when we had gone even with several families with children. There is a bar for people who prefer and for people who like to eat alone, too!
My mom ordered the chickichanga; my dad had the smoked salmon fritata and seasoned potatoes. I chose the Works Omelet with seasoned potatoes instead of the greens. I loved my Works omelet and my parents enjoyed their dishes as well. There was only one thing that we didn't like: my and my dad's potatoes were a tad bit too salty for our taste.
Overall, we had a pleasant experience and now know to "get in line" for a table sooner rather than later or arrive early! We will definitely...
Read moreI took my family to First Watch for Father's Day, and that proved to be a mistake. It was, quite possibly, one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. We put our name on the list at 10:19, and still didn't have a table by 12; there were still 7 parties ahead of us. To be fair, it was Father's Day and we were given a wait time of 75 to 105 minutes, but I had to ask at noon if we could seat my 3 and 5 year old on the bench next to me so as to not need a 6-top and reduce the wait. The hostess talked with the manager and agreed, and we sat at the table ready to order a little after 12. When our server appeared, we asked to order right away--the little ones were starving. But, she told us we could not order, that there were other tables that needed to order first, and it still would be a 30-45 minute wait for food. Needless to say, we left immediately; the two little ones were starving at this point, and we couldn't wait 2 and a half hours total for food. We knew it would be a long wait, but I've never experienced a wait like that.
The host station was unorganized, many tables sat empty for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, and the hosts claimed that they only took names, nothing else. I was a host once, and my job was to do what I could to get guests seated as fast as possible. In my opinion, it was a very poorly run operation. It certainly was disappointing, as my family in Florida told me First Watch...
