I love trying new places as I travel all over San Diego. My favorite is just the interactions with I get from the locals , which ties into the experience. I first came in because of the Google reviews. Someone had shared a picture of the "Pollo Asada Fries". After I showed her a picture of the food I wanted. The cashier was so nice. Friendly and a really nice demeanor. Thanked me for the purchase. The check out was easy and it texted me the receipt. It's nice to see authentic Mexican restaurants thrive in their expertise. Different recipes. I don't mind the food chains. This local locations stands out. I usually trust the food chains because they are some what similarly alike. So when the chance arrives. I try to step out of my comfort zone. Luckily I did, because this place is fresh. Nice seating. Nice parking. Nice restrooms. Nice people. For the food aspects of it. I'll say one word, "delicious". You try it for yourself!
Update......okay I came back to say a few more words. HOLY MOLLIE PRAISE JESUS! These Fries are amazing! Who adds beans and real Cotijan cheese? They do! Oh man. I am really happy I came here for my lunch break! I have to go now....I have...
Read moreNot gonna lie, I was pretty hyped to try this place after hearing good things. We drove all the way down from Vista just to check it out. We ordered two plates of the nine rolled taquitos and tried carne asada, adobada, and chicken tacos. We also got a couple of California burritos and some quesadillas.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the meat across the board. The carne asada was so dry we didn’t even finish the tacos. The adobada had potential but was also really dry. The chicken was the best of the three, but still not great. It just felt like an off day for the grill or something.
Now, the taquitos were a different story—totally loaded with guacamole, cheese, and sour cream. Super tasty. We also got some hot carrots, which were solid, and the hot sauces were pretty good too.
The California burrito had the same dry meat issue, but with the guac, cheese, and fries, it held together alright.
Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. I might give it another shot sometime and update this review if it’s...
Read moreI’ve been a fan of Rosarito’s for a while — in fact, I’ve had their burrito about four times over the last few months. Sadly, with each visit, the quality has steadily declined while the price has climbed. What used to be a solid, flavorful, and reliable go-to meal has become a watery, overpriced disappointment.
This last visit sealed it for me. The burrito was absolutely drenched — so much liquid that the tortilla couldn’t hold up, and it turned into a soggy mess. I've included photos to show just how far off the mark this was. For a meal that cost over $20, I expect something with care, consistency, and flavor — not something that falls apart the second you unwrap it.
Rosarito’s used to have a great thing going. The ingredients tasted fresh, the portion size matched the price, and it felt worth it. Now it just feels like they’re cutting corners while charging more.
Unless things turn around, this might have been my last burrito...
