Went to try this place with my family. This place is family friendly, they brew their own beers, they have an outside patio, a space for games like cornhole, playground and hammock area. Got to the front they said that there was a 30-40min wait for a table, while waiting tried to play corn hole because one of the sets wasn't in use. There were instructions to go to the host for bean bags, when we asked they said that all bags were with other customers. The set we were trying to use was still free, and came to find that the other customers were seated eating while holding on to the cornhole bags.
Went to the bar area and after 15 min of waiting for the table my family was seated in the same bar area. We were seated in the sunniest spot and no ac. The bartender/server was good at first however was pretty neglectful the rest of our 2 hours there. We placed an order of nachos the first time the server came. The nachos never came to the table but saw other tables seated after us receive nachos. The second time the server came we placed our food order, which he didn't write down. Server came back a half hour later, saying he forgot the order so we had to repeat it.
Since we had to wait longer for food, we tried to get the cornhole bags again but someone else got there a second before us. I asked the host if there was some kind of reservation or wait-list and they said no, it's first come first serve. I think it is ridiculous to have no regulation from the host to give a time limit or have a wait list (that other table had the corn hole bags for at least an hour and used them for 15 minutes?!).
It took 45 min for food to come to the table (after we placed the order a second time). The server did not come over to check on the table, to offer refills or to see how we were doing or apologize for the delay. Half the hot food was cold, and the Caesar salads were extremely skimpy on chicken and shrimp. The Grillmasters Feast came way over cooked and very little meat for the $30 price tag (I like a nice char but don't want to eat charcoal briquettes and dry chicken).
When we were done with our food it took another 20 minutes for our server to bring the check. After 15 minutes waiting for him to come get the card, we took the card to him and he said "sorry forgot to come back". Overall, service, food and activities were...
Read moreSecond disappointing visit on October 5th, my husband and I had gone once before and had terrible service and the couple we went with had the same experience. Repeated that experience again this time with a terrible waitress named Sadie. Took forever to get to our table in the first place but she apologized and it was fine. We ordered drinks, of which one was eventually brought out. Then our appetizers came out but we didn't have any silverware or plates; when I asked the food runner he said I would have to wait and ask the waitress, and then he came back and brought me one fork and one plate and said "sorry I thought you wanted them for the whole table" and I said yeah I did! She eventually came back by and brought us plates and silverware so we could eat and the other three drinks we were waiting on, of which two were wrong. She replaced one of the wrong drinks with another wrong drink and that customer just gave up and drank it, the other customer never said anything after the first wrong drink. (The next round I just ordered from the bar and that was quick and efficient and the drink that I ordered). When we got our food finally mine was wrong and the condiments that had been requested at ordering were not brought. She said she would rush to have them remake my food but everyone had already finished theirs and there was no plate insight for me so I went up and told her to just cancel it. She gave me a plate of french fries she said to tide me over I said it doesn't matter anymore everybody else is already done, and then she brought it out and put it in a box so we could leave. I am a bartender and waitress and have been for 25 years. At my bar I'm responsible for not only covering the whole bar myself but also making food behind the bar while I'm doing it. Sadie did a job that was beyond unsatisfactory, don't know how she ever got this job in the first place but she definitely should not be working in service! Not only was she incompetent but she also didn't seem bothered by her consistent screw-ups, and aside from the one apology that we got in the very beginning she never said sorry for anything else. I can confidently say that neither my husband and I or the other couple we were with will ever...
Read moreReally bummed this place seems to be tanking. This was a staple for us when we visit the area. The outdoor space for the kids and dog friendly patio was perfect (amazing actually).
Unfortunately the service and food quality has made it somewhere we will use now as last resort. We stopped in on Sunday evening after our 7-hour drive down. It was pretty empty and we were able to be seated in the enclosed patio with our dog. It was pouring so we couldn’t take advantage of the outdoor space. It didn’t seem the space was heated at all so we were pretty chilly out there. Our waitress was mildly friendly (brought a bowl of water for our dog though!). Food did not take very long to come out but everything (except for one of the kids plain buttered noodles) was “meh”. Nothing we would tell people about or order again. Later that night I felt sick to my stomach (potentially unrelated but likely from the oil-heavy chicken sandwich).
We figured every restaurant has an “off” day…
On our way out of town Friday we decided to come back for lunch since the kids would be able to use the outdoor space. Our waiter had no personality whatsoever (I’ve come across digital order menus with more enthusiasm). My wife’s apple butter grilled cheese came out burnt to hell and had a single slice of cheese and some old bacon (seriously it looked so sad). The kids buttered noodles this time and grated cheese on top (which of course you know a kid won’t typically like). My “basa” sandwich was disgusting. I can’t even imagine the conversation that happened to make this a menu item. Maybe at the time of its creation they made it real fresh - not anymore! Stale hoagie-style bun with an over-cooked dried-out piece of kielbasa smothered in something between relish and salsa? Whatever it was…yuck.
Hopefully this place turns back around. It really is a great space and super convenient if in that area near CHSP. I’ll keep an eye on the reviews hoping we just had two bad experiences in a row and they aren’t indicative of the restaurant as...
