Four of us made a reservation for 8pm and weren’t seated until 8:30pm. We kept asking for an update and they kept telling us “five minutes”, with a slight attitude. While we waited, we each ordered two sake bombs at the bar. The bartender avoided us at all costs. It took over 10 minutes to place our drink order and another 10 minutes to get the bill. When we finally were seated at our Hibachi table, we noticed people that arrived after us were seated before us. We ordered two flaming volcano drinks and four waters. We didn’t get the volcano drinks until about 30 minutes later, and the waters after asking four times. We ordered two appetizers. The chef seemed so inexperienced which made the show boring. He was cutting the meats and vegetables at the speed I would cut. No egg toss, nothing fun. Every hibachi restaurant we’ve ever gone to shoots sake to the adults at the table and since the chef hadn’t offered, we asked him if he could. He replied “NO”. We were shocked considering this is standard at most hibachi restaurants, and all the items we were ordering. At least the ones we’ve gone to in NY, NJ, and PA. The hibachi rice was utterly flavorless. He skimped on the soy sauce. The filet mignon was decent but were all cooked the same way-medium. Some of us asked for medium rare. We informed the staff that it’s my brother in laws birthday, so he’s eligible for half off his entree, as it states on their website. We asked if they can bring ice cream with a candle for tradition, to which they did, but before they allowed him to blow out the candle, they had the audacity to immediately ask for his license to prove it’s his birthday. And they took it somewhere in the back for a few minutes. We understand they need proof of birthdate to give him half off his entree, it just wasn’t the right time at all. Very awkward. At least they could have waited for him to blow out the candle. They brought us the bill and everything was full price. We asked them to correct it since it’s his birthday, to which they did. However, since they just came back with his license, it kind of seemed like they intentionally didn’t correct it, hoping we wouldn’t notice the full price on the bill. It was by far the worst hibachi experience, let alone restaurant experience, ever. Rude, incompetent staff. Tokyo Steakhouse should not be...
Read moreI've been told about this place for the last several months ever since I moved into town. Last night I decided to take my wife and my son to try this place out even though we had already visited the one in Maryland which I was extremely impressed with. I typically write reviews based on the food at places however because of my experience last night, I feel the need also post something about my most recent experience at Tokyo Steakhouse here at right Rehoboth Beach. We got there about 9 pm and we're immediately treated by the hostess upfront. Upon sitting us in our section, we noticed how that side of the restaurant wasn't getting much attention as there was only one other table at the moment we arrived. Either way we decided to stay but it took close to 15 minutes to finally get some service. Our server Shaheeda (had to look it up on the receipt), started by asking for our drinks in a very rushed manner. Once she brought the drinks out, she took out order and left to put the order in, but the horrible service started after she brought the food out almost slamming the dishes on the table. At one point, I questioned about one salad my wife had ordered that was supposed to have masago and wasn't on her dish, so she said she would get it to us on the side while rolling her eyes and turning around in an abrupt manner. At that point, we felt uncomfortable and in the past I would simply get up and go to a different restaurant but didn't want to put my family through that. My biggest complain is the service that was provided as we felt like we were being rushed and brushed away my the server. Every customer should be treated with respect regardless of a person's mood or previous dealing with other customers. Sounded like she had a bad night all together and unfortunately we paid as customers. Hopefully the GM can address this with this particular employee. Food was extremely good so I will give 5 starts on that end, but when customer service isn't provided at its best, the food quality becomes second...
Read moreThe Tokyo Steakhouse has been our go-to place for sushi. However, we hadn't eaten there recently so we looked forward to going. My wife had some questioned; did they have Uni. Uni typically is a specialty item so she always asked to see if they have it. The waitress said, if it is on the menu, they have it. That is not always the case, so my wife asked if she could check. The waitress came back and gave a confusing answer, stating it was on the menu but they have not had it in 6 months. My wife asked, did she check. The waitress said, NO. My wife asked again if she could check. It was then the waitress demeaner changed. We also sensed the waitress really didn't know the menu. She came back to confirm they did not have it. We placed our order. The place had only 3 other diners. The waitress slid our drinks in front of us. You could tell she was not happy and was avoiding us. She dropped off the plate and said, here is your sushi and quickly left. It was a very uncomfortable situation because she was clearly avoiding us and I had to stop her to ask what was what. I asked and she literally yelled across the restaurant to the sushi chef. Then she said she would take the plate away. We tole her she didn't have to do that, we just wanted to ow what was what. She told us ad my wife told her, that was not what she ordered. The waitress became argumentative and scolded my wife y saying, "oh not that it what you ordered". We asked to see the manager an when he came over, the waitress came over and again argued with my wife. The manager had to tell her 2 times to leave. We showed him that she did not bring some of the items we ordered and my wife did not order one of the items the she brought. He was very apologetic and said she was new and offered to cancel our bill. I told him that was nice but I want to pay for the appetizer we ate. The experience was so bad, we could not believe what just happened. Sadly we will never go back after...
