I, for one, am very saddened to write this review. I love Grams and their food, which is why I decided to reach out to have them cater for an event. My colleague had reached out to them the week of April 21st to see if they were able to do a big order, in which the owner, Jesse Reeves, was "more then happy to take care of that order." My colleague responded with the times to pick up and they had been in contact via phone call after that to make sure everything was settled. She had let him know that we would be sending out the orders for him in a few days. I had proceeded to then call Grams May 2nd for confirmation and to ensure they were still able to fulfill the order. Not only did they say that they had never heard about what I was talking about, but they were extremely rude and unprofessional. Jesse Reeves said that he never received an email from anyone regarding the event and that they would still do it either way. He then proceeded to say that we should send him the list of orders no later than May 5th, which is today. I had sent him an email Monday, May 3rd with everything in regards to the event.
This is what I had emailed him: "Hello, Thank you so much for taking an order this huge. I really appreciate it. My team and I were talking, and we think it would be better for you guys if we change our event to May 8th from 1-2pm. Does that work with y’all? We didn’t even realize it was Mother’s Day next weekend and we truly apologize for that. We don’t want your job, especially that day, to be too stressful. If 1-2pm doesn’t work, we’d be more than happy to change that to a little earlier or later in the day. Whatever is easier for you guys. The thing about this membership just for clarification once again, is that it will be 22 orders (up to $20 for our members/1-2 items on the menu) and we will pick it up on the day of. I will be sending what we’re ordering down below. As for payment, is it okay if Amy Beward, the one in charge of our accounts can call tomorrow (Tuesday) to get that situated? If you guys accept it, she would like to give you the credit card info in order to make the payment over phone. Let me know if you guys have any more questions and I’d be happy to help. Thank you very much and have a nice day!" I had also sent out the list of orders, but that was too long to put in this review. Monday and Tuesday had passed by and no response. I decided to give him until Wednesday to respond, since that is when he wanted the list by. I called Grams twice today to see if he was there, but all they gave me was attitude. Which then I proceeded to send this email: "Hello, I have yet to receive confirmation from you for this order. It’s coming up very soon and I have given you some time to respond back, but I have not received anything yet. Please let me know by tonight. If I don’t receive any emails, we no longer would be needing your services due to unprofessionalism and lack of communication (since we did reach out a few weeks ago). Thanks and have a nice day. Best, Joselyn"
This was sent at 2:32 pm today, May 5th. I then received a call from him at 2:36 pm saying that he would no longer be hosting us due to OUR unprofessionalism. But who exactly was in the wrong? He did not hesitate to call me as soon as he received the email above in which I had stated his unprofessionalism and lack of communication. But what happened to responding to the other emails before that? I am just very disappointed in how they handled this and if you are considering getting catering from them, I'd recommend you'd think...
Read moreI loved going to Grams. I moved here 2 years ago due to work and Grams was the hidden gem I fell in love with. But today July 23rd all of that changed when I decided to share this gem with my mom who was visiting. She ordered an Eggs Benedict and it normally comes with Hollandaise Sauce. This time it was on the lighter side of having sauce so my mom asked for a bit more. The server got the sauce without ever telling us there was an additional $3 charge for a tiny dip cup worth of sauce. So when we got bill you could only imagine our surprise that a sauce was a quarter of the price of the meal itself!
So we went to the register to speak to our server and he had no answer for us… he looked over his shoulder to the back of the house several times, and nervously said I’ll ask the manager. He walked to the back and before he could say a word the female manager was already yelling at him on what to say to us. We waited and realized these employees were afraid of the manager. So the male manager came out and immediately as he saw us he lifted his arms and said what’s the problem we already put 3oz of sauce on your meal and if you ask for extra of anything you will get charged. We stopped him there and said one second. We are asking why were we not informed. We simply ask that the next time we dine here or for anyone that someone lets the customer know there will be an additional charge and what the amount will be so there is no surprises on the bill. He then crumbled the receipt in front of us and said you know what I don’t want to deal with customers and their complaints today. You don’t have to come back ever again. We were immediately shocked at how the tables turned. We told him no one here is trying to leave out on a bill and no one was not trying to pay. We ate we pay. We couldn’t even leave a tip for the young man who deserved it and served us. His boss took that opportunity away from him. I stopped him again and said for 2 years I have been coming here and have never been treated this way. And I asked him to clarify if he was kicking us out and he said well you are still standing here and arguing you can leave! Before we left I told him I have never been treated so poorly in my life anywhere and I have never trained my staff in my previous places of employment in the restaurants to be the way he is. This whole situation could have been avoided if this man and his other partner were 1st not bullies and 2nd trained staff to communicate better with customers so there are no hidden surprises.
I will note this! I am a white Puerto Rican so white passing. But my mother is dark skinned Puerto Rican. And I have no choice but to believe she was treated this way because of who she is. He only addressed her until I stepped and saw the disrespect. He looked at her like he was sick of her and our people. My mother is here visiting while going through chemo and all I wanted to do was treat her to my...
Read moreWow. I came here for the first time many many months ago while in town on business and had a great breakfast served by very friendly and knowledgeable staff, but was missing the old Cherry Alley Cafe and their breakfast burrito. I was very hopeful this new business would do well in this beloved spot simply because of the memories I've had here over the years. I returned today with my family and was overwhelmed with how they've flourished into am absolute gem. I was met with helpful, courteous and welcoming staff in every direction upon my first visit late morning when we stopped in just to use the bathroom. I have two toddlers, one still in diapers, so while there I grabbed a drink. I felt right at home. When dinner time came and we had met up with my wife we decided to head back. My little man who isn't even 2 yet was having a bad night, but that didn't stop us from enjoying our food. We both had tacos. I had the Asian tacos, one with tofu, the next with sweet potato and the third with fish. Perfectly balanced throughout. Salty Sweet Spicy Crunchy and Soft all at once. Our little dude cried pretty much the whole time we were there and we were never made to feel like an inconvenience. I'm sure we annoyed more than a few customers, but everybody was polite. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. I'm so happy to see this place shine here. Can't...
