My husband and I haven’t had a steak dinner in months, found this place on Google maps with decent reviews and decided to give it a try.

Oh my goodness!

We ordered a bottle of Rombauer Vineyards’ Zinfandel from their wine list that was simply AMAZING!!! (We have been to Napa for wine tours 3 times so believe me when I say it was AMAZING - what a wonderful smell and burst of flavor!)

I had the peppercorn crusted beef filet with cognac sauce grilled to medium and my husband had the prime rib. They were excellent pairings for this Zinfandel.

He thought he could only eat about half of his prime rib but after tasting it he ate the whole thing because it was so good. I finished my filet happily with room for dessert - a sticky toffee pudding a la mode. It was big enough to satisfy but small enough to avoid the annoying sugar overload so common at some restaurants.

Raylena was our waitress and even though she had several other tables she engaged with us at the correct times, was friendly, punctual, and earned a generous tip from us. Great job Raylena!

We will definitely come back again and recommend this place to our friends and relatives in this area. There are several affordable items on their menu for every price range, plus a grits dish that I look forward to trying on our next visit.

Be sure to use their website to make a reservation. It was very busy when they opened at 5 pm on a Saturday and by 6 pm all...

VERY disappointed in the handling of our experience at dinner this evening. The only person that deserves a compliment is Patty, our server. We arrived early and ‘before the rush’ according to the hostess. It took one hour and 45 minutes for us to receive our meal. I think that is generous. We were told there was a delay due to a 5 top that all ordered steak and ours would be out shortly. Bread was gone, drinks were gone, salad eaten and still no meal. Never visited again until I flagged down the hostess. ‘I’m very sorry it should be out shortly’. We voiced out displeasure and the hostess asked if we wanted to speak with the manager and we said yes. Once our food came, it was delicious. NOT ONCE did the manager visit our table and Patty said she was supposed to bring out our meal. For the amount of money our meal was, the LEAST she could do was speak to us and comp our drinks. The kitchen should have been able to handle the ‘non busy’ time. Our experience eating out twice while visiting “The coolest little town in America” was disappointing. It is clear it’s a place where everyone knows everyone and the visitors get served last. maybe a credit back on my card would be nice, one can...

The food served at the Livery Tavern is better than some foods I’ve eaten at Michelin rated restaurants. I’m not exaggerating- this place is absolutely delightful. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is rustic/ speakeasy kind of energy. It’s a smaller spot, but it makes it feel homey. The owner was walking around checking on tables and I thought that was adorable! We started with the calamari which was some of the best I’d ever have; the squid wasn’t rubbery and it was perfectly crunchy. For the main entree I ordered the salmon (cold smoked with honey and brown sugar and then baked!) with risotto and my husband ordered the sea bass with Brussel sprouts. He was so impressed he actually ordered a SECOND entree; the special which was a red fish and equally as delicious. The star of the show for me was dessert. We ordered the banana crème brûlée cheesecake, which I’m sure will end up on a regular rotation for my pregnancy cravings. It is absolutely worth driving 8 hours from NJ for!

Overall we are incredibly happy with every aspect of this restaurant. I hope the owners know just how amazing their place is, and how equally amazing...

The Livery Tavern was a very good experience for being in Lewisburg WV. 5 years ago my family and I ate here and had the worst experience possible, but under new ownership the Livery has truly become a wonderful place to enjoy a meal. The food was outstanding, perfectly cooked, exact to all preferences, with classical technique shining through with every bite. My dad hates Brussel sprouts with a passion, but was amazed at how good the side of roasted Brussel sprouts were. The gnocchi and steak tips were excellent with the gnocchi being the perfect texture. My dad ordered the hanger steak, which they cooked perfectly. There is one employee at the Livery who has been there since the last dreadful time we ate there, and the menu is not organized well, but other than those two issues the restaurant was top notch. I would recommend giving it a go.

A pretty good stop for dinner and drinks. A bit overpriced, as 3 old fashioneds came out to $54, and the lobster & shrimp paella was far more paella than seafood. Otherwise, food and drinks were really good. Appreciated the mocktail menu, great option for those don't want to or can't drink alcohol. A bit of constructive criticism, the server was far too over-apologetic over non-issues, such as asking multiple times if the drinks were okay because the bartender is new (the drinks were great), or walking up to the table while apologizing for I assume not coming around for a few minutes (also a non-issue, we were in no hurry). Being from the midwest, I know the personality, and it was even a bit extreme after a while to keep reassuringly saying "it's no problem at all!".
