The Wild Bean is a unique, local coffee and tea hub with a delightful hipster vibe. Inside, they offer a wide selection of not only coffee and tea, but also vinyl records, fresh coffee beans, CDs featuring local music groups, and a cute array of coffee accessories. Favor a tasteful game of chess with a partner while sipping on a hot cup of coffee? The Wild Bean provides free boardgames that can be easily played on any of their tables.
While I'm not the biggest coffee drinker, I feel I have the palette to decipher between a mediocre and excellent cup of coffee, and I can say with the utmost confidence that the average coffee drinks they offer are certainly above average. For example, there's no comparison of a paper cup of Starbucks coffee to a beautifully presented, ceramic cup of joe that the Wild Bean serves.
Unfortunately, there are some downsides. They do have a food menu, consisting completely of vegetarian fare. While tasty, the portions are small, expensive, and ordinary(You'd be better off traveling down the sidewalk to the infamous Food and Friends.) Also, their specialty drinks(mainly chilled) are not special at all. They're overly sweet, poorly blended slushes served with a pile of whipped cream on the top. If I craved such a drink, I would go to Starbucks, where they at least taste decent.
In closing, if you're looking for a distinctive coffee shop in the downtown lewisburg area, the Wild Bean should be one of your main stops. They provide a wide variety of remarkable coffees and teas. If you're searching for a full meal or a "specialty" coffee drink, I would suggest eating out at the other many restaurants lewisburg...
Read moreMy friend came in from Baltimore so I thought maybe I would take him downtown for brunch and since we used to go to the Wildbean a lot, let’s go there! Huge mistake! The food was horrible and hard basically not able to eat and they wouldn’t listen or re-cook! I was so embarrassed… my friend order from the so called restaurant next door and he couldn’t eat anything from his plate! It was really bad! This is not the Wildbean I remembered from years ago and they don’t realize what’s happening with downtown Lewisburg and it’s a shame because our downtown is dying just like all of WV but people here just refuse to wake up to the situation because of choices they have made and now it’s too late! You cannot live year around on the tiny tourist dollars that trickle into your doors, you have to have the local dollars and that money is gone now and will never ever return! Those people have left the State and took their families with them so the people who are left here are the ones who do not shop or dine out especially in downtown lewisburg because they...
Read moreTwo in our party. Arrival time 2:30. Departure 5:00pm. Coffee temp was served just luke warm and disappointing. We asked for a warm up and staff said that they didn't have a microwave, so they put about 2oz of steamed coffee on top of warm coffee to almostno effect. No further action taken by staff to resolve the complaint. After finishing the cup we asked for hot refills and staff refilled our mugs from airpot carafe which was again just lukewarm. Three staff on duty, busy cleaning and no one waited on another customer who just left exasperated after waiting several minutes. Were they closed? Nobody was acknowledging customer and frankly it was embarrassing. Customer looked at us as if we could offer an explanation but we didn't know what to say. Several people setting about the dining room using the WiFi. The atmosphere was thick with indifference. It seems like the business was closing for the day, why not just say...
