The Asylum — Restaurant in Lewisburg

I would give this a half star if that were an option. We arrived for lunch, seated ourselves and waited 10 minutes before anyone came to the table to welcome us or take a drink order. The menu and beer list looked promising however after upon placing our order the waiter told us they were out of several of the items we were interested in. When we asked about the daily special listed on the board as you enter the restaurant, he didn't know what it was and said they were out of it too. We placed our food order which included an appetizer and three entrees. After 25 minutes of waiting we asked the waiter about the appetizer, he said he was waiting for the kitchen to tell him it was up. Another 15 minutes later, we asked again. He said he would then go ask the kitchen. Another 5 minutes goes by and he comes back to say that it will be another 30 minutes before we have our appetizer. I explained that we could not wait and requested that he bring the check for the 2 beers that we had long since finished. When he brought the check to the table, the amount was incorrect. He had charged us for the items we ordered but they were out of stock along with our beer. When I brought this to his attention to be fixed, I also asked to speak with a manager. The manager came out to speak with us and he never once apologized for our wait, our lack of food, or our incorrect bill. He only said, 'we're busy.' He didn't offer to do anything. With that, I left $6 on the table to cover the 2 beers and left. This is a disappointment of a restaurant...

While the food was amazing with cook to order burgers and homemade french fries. Don't bother in wasting your money on the homemade chips we did the garlic parmesan and they were so disappointing they literally sprinkled seaming on chips that were already cooked not when they were fresh out of the fryer and there was no sauce or anything to dip them in. A side not for the fries they have amazing homemade ranch. Now for the negative our service was terrible we legit would wait at our table for 10 minutes with empty drink cups and this girl had the audacity to come to the table and ask if we needed anything clearly we all have empty drinks. Now I could understand if she was busy but she was not we were here only table. I had to ask for napkins she wasn't friendly or outgoing. If we ever eat from here again it will be a Togo order. Which brings me to our next point most places have free refills they did not nor did the waitress tell us or the menu state this until we asked her what the extra charge was on the bill. My husband, baby daughter, and I went here a couple weeks ago. We were visiting Lewisburg to care for my sick dad and stopped in around 8pm. It was the first meal we got to eat all day with our busy schedule and wanted to give business to a local restaurant. We decided to come here because they had a vegetarian burger option, I loved that!

Our server seemed really stressed and overworked/overwhelmed. We didn't really get any smiles, but she wasn't impolite either.

My husband got a burger and we both thought it was strange that he was never asked how he wanted his burger cooked. I got a black bean burger, and we got a kid's grilled cheese for our baby so we could tear it into bites for her. It came with applesauce and fries. The grilled cheese had a strange taste to it, it was a bit sour? And tasted like it had been cooked on the same surface as fish. My black bean burger was good, and my husband liked his burger too despite it being a bit overdone for his preference.
