Food: We had the ribs and brisket plate with green beans and Mac and cheese for the sides. We also had the banana pudding as a desert. This was my second time coming here in over three years. I wanted to try them again to see if things were different… Ribs - they really tasted old. Almost like they have been sitting in the fridge for a while and then warmed up to serve. You can see a smoke ring but, can’t tasted the smoke. I believe they are baking the ribs along with smoking them. 1 out of 5 Brisket - much of the same thing with the brisket. Tender meat but, lacked smoke and tasted old as well. 1 out of 5 Sides - the sides were not good as well. The green beans were canned in my opinion and didn’t taste fresh. The Mac and cheese was flavorless and the noodles were over cooked. 1 out of 5 Desert - the banana pudding tasted processed as well. Didn’t seem fresh. It was a lot of pudding with only a two cookies and no bananas. 1 out of 5 Service - the service was actually really good. Everyone was so nice. We were greeted at least twice. The chef was really nice and the servers were as well. 5 out of 5 Atmosphere - the atmosphere was not great. The seat was tapped and overall just didn’t feel clean to me. 3.5 out of 5 Price - we paid $22 for the plate plus the desert and one drink. Not bad for a bbq spot however, for the quality of food it’s over priced to me. Overall, this place is much like it was a few years ago when I tried it. The food isn't smoked all the way through. The food does taste like left overs. I think with a few small adjustments they could be a good place to come for bbq. If they were to attempt to cook some of their sides fresh, revamp their desert options and smoke the meat all the way through, they could be a go to spot here in Lewisville. Unfortunately, the best thing we had there was the soft drink from the fountain machine. Sorry but, that’s the truth. Hopefully, they can adjust.

I eat a lot of BBQ - I also smoked a lot of BBQ myself. Big Jack's BBQ isn't the worst I have had but it by far the best I have had. I got the sliced brisket with BBQ beans & Potato Salad. The beans were average, not any better than say some store bought beans that one could get a Walmart. The potato salad was actually pretty good and better than most BBQ joints I have been too. But the big test... The brisket - the brisket was average and lacked any smoke flavor at all. The brisket was cooked perfectly though, not over cooked or under cooked at all. There was zero smoke ring and zero smoke taste. The BBQ sauce was an average homemade sauce that isn't anything to write home about. The price wasn't bad, I have been to cheaper and I have been to pricier places. The price doesn't meet the quality and I'm not sure what the "grand opening" $1 charge was for? For a $12.98 brisket plate I expect more bang for my buck. Overall it's an average BBQ joint - better then some of its competitors around that area but not the best.

BBQ was very tasty, well smoked, well seasoned, and ribs were fall off the bone. The brisket was very dry however. I had the pork, ribs, and brisket with two sides. Coleslaw, like nearly every BBQ place I’ve tried was needing of salt and pepper. Mac and cheese was flavorful with some garlic and onion notes which I’ve found to be uncommon. The food was fresh and hot even on a slow day. Service is friendly and atmosphere is a great hole in the wall feel. Will definitely come back with a more well-rounded review.

Easter Sunday With my Family I had searched online for a barbecue place and I said try this one and this place is awesome. They’re cooking the barbecue right upfront at a giant pit smoking. You can smell that thing for Miles soon as we walked into the parking lot you could smell it they were busy cooking Walked in. The restaurant was clean atmosphere was pleasant. Music was soft and easy to listen to the menu is easy to read and read detailed the menu. You also gave me plenty of options to choose from we chose 2 pounds of brisket. I think a pound and a half for the St. Louis ribs and then we also hand the smoked sausage if you buy it by the pound and share it with your family, the cost is more efficient and I’m a cheapo but when it comes to barbecue, you gotta pay for it good barbecue this was delicious barbecue probably one of the better barbecues that we’ve had so it’s definitely a plus definitely gonna come back. That’s why I decided to leave recommendations for this establishment everybody was friendly. Everybody was friendly great food great music. We also seen a lot of people coming in and taking Bags to go so obviously that tells you something right there. I just wanted to say thank you to the manager thank you to the owners for a wonderful place to enjoy on our Easter Sunday with...

Big Jack's is the best! Their BBQ is as good as you'll find anywhere, and they're just fantastic people! Jack's is family owned by legal Mexican immigrants. The whole family works there everyday, so it's always a friendly and familiar face when you walk inside. They always give a warm welcome and treat you like family, even if it's your first time there. There's the owner (whose name isn't actually Jack), his wife, his brother, and his Son, that's their entire staff. They work so hard and such long hours everyday... Please go buy lots of BBQ from Big Jack's, and maybe one day they'll finally feel comfortable enough to close for a few days and go on a family vacation.

As for the food specifically, it's top shelf Barbeque! I like places like Hard Eight, Hutchins BBQ, and Meat You Anywhere, and those places are pretty close to being on par with Big Jack's, but none of them are better than Big Jack's! Big Jack's uses top quality meats and they truly cook them to perfection! Their meat is so good you don't need any sauce, but their sauces are also exceptionally tasty!

This review was written by the pool guy who goes in there for a chopped beef sandwich 3 or 4...
