So, I'm not really sure what the concept of this place is. I was told by friends that this was a place you could bring your dog with you and by their advice I brought mine. Granted he's a puppy, I wanted to check out what the place was about. Well, I walk in and just ask "do you allow dogs out back or inside?", I assumed outside was going to be the answer. The young man at the front door let out a long "ummmm uhhhhh I'm nnnnnot ssssssssure." At that point I figured my friends were wrong about the dog policy or maybe I misunderstood something. The young man hurried away to I assume find out the answer to my question. He came back and said in an unsure tone that there was an area for dogs, "it's just a back patio though" in his own words. Not exactly inviting. We followed him out there, occasionally stopping for some people that were fawning over our 9 week old beagle pup. We came to these high top chairs that I immediately noticed I wouldn't fit in. I'm not a massive dude (6' 2 270lbs), but I knew those chairs wouldn't agree with my hips. I asked if we could sit at the bar that was right next to us and the young man said "probably not". So unfortunately we didn't get to eat and left. Not just the chairs, but the "dog area" was just open concrete with chairs and tables on it. Anyone's dog could easily run away into the busy parking lot if you lost grip of their leash.
Look, if you have a restaurant that locals are telling me you can bring your dog to, then make it clear to your entire staff what that means as far as health code and your establishment's personal policy. Seems to be pattern that the staff tend to be disenfranchised/disorganized at any one time as per other reviews. I rated pretty low not because of the food, but because of the apathetic attitude I was met with during the 10 odd minutes I was there.
We went to Cheddar's down the street. They didn't have a "dog area" but we still sat outside. The wait staff immediately knew the policy of animals and were very accommodating.
Look I don't assume my dog and I should be able to eat wherever we want. However as per local advice I brought my dog. people that have eaten there before and brought their pets. Maybe I came on a bad day? Nice sunny Sunday, so I don't know.
Please have a staff meeting so everyone is on the same page. Pretty sure I'm not the only one whose experienced this, I'm just one of the few that happened to take the time...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food has always been amazing beside some over cooked fried pickles once or twice but the service has always been well regardless of who we have gotten there. Very busy establishment, could be long wait times on the weekends..
My husband has been working at this establishment for almost a year, at the beginning this was a fun place for us to bring our children to grab a meal, or just to bring my friends and tell acquaintances about for work dinner parties since I always wanted to promote where my husband works but this place has lost my business. On 4/15, I came up to double dog to get my dodge from my husband and now on 4/17, I am being told, I am no longer allowed at the establishment after āharassingā a server, which is the first time Iāve heard Iāve harassed anybody at my husbands job in the almost year he has been there. On 4/15, I came to the host stand and was greeted by a nice hostess and informed her I was just waiting on my husband, he already knew I was there an thanked her. No other words were exchanged, a few moments later here comes my husband and we walk outside along with my friends which were witnesses that day.. and no other words were exchanged to anybody in Double Dog. I do not know the server in question, or what she looks like. Sounds like somebody that was guilty for some type of action they have committed or done in general but I will not be back at Double Dog, neither will any of my friends or acquaintances Iāve referred after this. I donāt know who in their right mind would go to their spouses place of business and harass his co workers who theyāve never met nor know what they look like, when their family uses the income coming...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was enjoyable with plenty of TV screens to catch any sporting events. There is an absolutely great outdoor seating area as well. Great place to eat if you're staying in one of the nearby hotels. The drinks and appetizers arrived promptly, and I particularly enjoyed the pico de Gallo, which was delicious, though I couldn't tell if it was homemade or pre-made.
However, when it came to the main course, I was a bit disappointed. As someone who expected hot dogs to be a highlight of the menu given the name of the restaurant, I was surprised to see only four hot dog choices on the menu. I ended up ordering a chili dog, but it was served in a bowl because it was overflowing with chili and cheese. It was more like a soup and impossible to eat with my hands, which was not what I had in mind when ordering a hot dog. If I had known beforehand, I would have chosen differently.
My partner ordered the BLT, and they said it was "a solid BLT" and they loved the fries. (The fries were good)
In summary, the service was great, and the atmosphere was enjoyable, especially for sports fans. If I was solo traveling for work and was at a hotel nearby I would definitely eat and drink at the bar here. The drinks and appetizers were served promptly, and the pico de Gallo was a highlight. However, the limited hot dog choices and the unexpected presentation of the chili dog were disappointing. If you're looking for a casual spot to catch a game and enjoy some appetizers, Double Dogs could be a good choice, but be cautious when ordering...
