Grounded All Day Cafe — Restaurant in Lexington

i hate to leave a bad review because i genuinely love this place and the food, but we had an odd visit today that makes me a little nervy to come back with it being only our 2nd time:( so we ordered 2 food items and 2 drinks and when we walked in and ordered we were the only customers inside at all. We sat down and more customers started to come in and it got a little more busy. For 45 minutes though we watched as everyone coming in got their food and drinks pretty fast and we still hadn’t gotten anything. The food came out at the 45 minute mark and was DELICIOUS! Genuinely best bagel i’ve ever had. When they brought the food they said the drinks would be coming soon, but even after we finished our food we hadn’t received our drinks. I was super thirsty so just went up and bought a bottled orange juice, with still nothing on the other 2 drinks and lots of people coming and going. At the hour mark the person I was with went up to the counter and just asked for a refund for the drinks since we had finished eating and there was no sign of them even being made. They said it was because they weren’t put in (they were on our receipt though and we paid for them) and gave us the cash refund for the 2 drinks. Like I said, I really wanted to love this place as it’s SO cute and the food is SO delicious but this was just not a very pleasant...

I’m saddened to leave a review like this. My husband and I like this place, and it used to be one of the places we can hang out with our friends. I am vegan (for ethical reasons), so it can be hard to find a place that accommodates, and we were happy to find this cafe. Today I ordered a Garden Fresh bagel (a vegetarian bagel to begin with) with vegan cream cheese. Unfortunately, my bagel turned out to have chicken in it, and I already took a bite. It may not seem a big deal to others, but it is for me. I don’t want to eat animals, and all I can do is trust people in the food industry in these circumstances. The response of the staff at first was very disinterested. It was only until I got emotional that my complaint was taken seriously. I understand that the staff is young, and they may not care why I got so upset, so it’s hard to blame them. I just wish the staff could be more mature or responsive. I received my corrected order and it was a good bagel. I was also given a mug and a gift card. I appreciate the apology I received from the owner, but I don’t know if I will come back. I have celiac disease and have to eat gluten free. I saw on their website they have gf options. I asked the lady at the register and she confirmed. She even went over every ingredient in the bagel with me to confirm it was gluten free. When my bagel was ready, I asked a different staff member and they also confirmed it was gluten free. About half way through my bagel, I realized it had wontons (basically crackers) in the filling. I was unable to finish my meal and had to rush home to be sick. I got a refund for the bagel but not the coffee or other food purchased that I couldn’t eat because I was sick. I believe what happened was a new staff member just made a mistake. These things happen and I don’t think this is a bad restaurant. I do want people to be aware. I was sick for over a week afterwards and this mistake will unfortunately cause permanent damage to several of my organs. I will say, what I ate of the bagel was...
