My friend and I have reached the age where colonoscopies can no longer be avoided. So as I was her driver I was in control of where to take her for the first fill up afterward. Oh and by the way, she had hers done at Central Baptist hospital and I recommend if you have to have one give them a try. Their staff were wonderful beyond anything I had ever experienced. But now back to food. We decided to stop at the IHop on Nicholasville Rd as it was just down the street and convenient to be able to jump on New Circle Rd to head back to Georgetown. We came in and were nicely greeted by a server passing by. After being seated and placing our drink order our waiter came over to see if we were ready to order. Bless his heart, he had on his jacket cause he was freezing. It was one of the few this winter that did require a coat. He apologized for his attire and I explained that I was having a hot flash so dont be surprised if I started stripping down in a while. We all had a good laugh and placed our order for eggs, bacon, and of course pancakes. Coffee freely flowed as there was a carafe at the end of the table and our breakfast was quickly served. Oh my goodness, the pancakes were as light as air and had a wonderful flavor as if made from cake batter. Very light flavor but enough to leave a lasting impression. The eggs I had ordered scrambled dry with bacon and hashbrowns were equally delicious. The eggs were perfect which a lot of restaurants can't seem to get right. The payment for the meal was a bit confusing though. As always my friend and I wrestled over the check but I won. I went to the front to pay and had to wait a few. Maybe I was suppose to give it to the server. They finally came and happily took my money and as we left a very nice gentleman who worked there held the door for us as we had eaten everything on our plates and had to be squeezed through the door. He told us to come back and to be careful traveling home. What a great experience we had and even though I live on the other side of Lexington I will be traveling back to this store for more good food and...
Read moreThe food tasted fine. It took quite awhile to come out, and came out at different times, but there seemed to only be 2 people working in there at the time. So, it's understandable. The biggest issue I had was when we went to pay our check. We handed server our card and she proceeded to tell us that the card reader hasn't been working and asks for alternative form of payment. My wife and I had $28 between the two of us, and the check is $39. Server tells my wife to download the ihop app on her phone and walks away. My wife does this, then has to create a login, and scan a qr code on the check. Still, can't seem to make that work. Check pulls up, but the app screen goes blank when we try to pay it. I stood up and flagged down the only other person in the restaurant who I assume to be the manager. I tell the guy that I can come back in later on and pay with cash or card if it starts working again, but we don't sufficient cash to pay the check, and wouldn't have chosen to eat here if we knew cards couldn't be accepted from the beginning. The guy just stands ther like we are at some sort of impasse. After I explain to him that I'm just a little too old and much too large to be held hostage by him in a restaurant over a card reader not working and their own inefficiencies in communicating these issues to incoming patrons, he decided that the $28 cash we had on us would be sufficient to satisfy our check. Apparently, the menu pricing is now negotiable depending on whether or not their equipment is working. The entire experience felt like a back-assed flea market parking lot deal for a set of used truck tires. I have seen more professionalism out of inner-city hookers than what we got...
Read moreWe went today, and they were short-staffed. No biggie. Had to wait 20 minutes for a table as they were only seating at six of them. Our waitress was training a guy. Service was mediocre at best. My food was missing cheese on my scrambled eggs, which still had runny eggs mixed in. We asked them to just not charge us for it, the waitress agreed, no big deal. The onions were missing off of my daughter's hash brown's, no big deal. I asked for them just to not charge us, trying to be understanding. We then realized we were both missing our pancakes, so we asked about them and just asked them to be packed in to-go boxes, which they did. The waitress grabbed one set of pancakes that had been sitting up in the window and asked for the other's to be made. We were never given a bill, but our waitress came over to take our payment. After my daughter realized the total was a little high, we questioned it, and AFTER the payment was processed, our waitress brought us a copy of the receipt, charging us for the missing cheese and onions. This is why you didn't receive a tip. You have to complete your job and at least care about the whole three tables you served in order to expect a tip. We used to go here every weekend, until about two months ago, because service and the food was always great! We decided to go today since we haven't been, and decided we won't...
