💚The juicy version of this review💚 Coffee is my greatest passion, and Lussi Brown has been my favorite coffee shop in all of lexington for years. It feels like such a labor of love (,: I've been meaning to write this review forever but didn't want to give anything less than the full mushy love letter it deserves. Lessgo.
☕️Damn good espresso, consistently (best in town imo) They use deeper roots coffee (Cinci based!), typically having their alchemy blend on deck. This is my go-to bean at home but the way they pull it really captures a lovely, well rounded flavor. Bright and with all the right levels of sweetness and acid, it's a great ole bean and they do it justice. If you're into the flavor of lighter roasts that still have a kick, palette complexity, and heavy body, oo girl you need to go here.
🍹Really fun and unique cocktails!! Their selection of alcoholic beverages is impressive in variety; it doesn't give the "trying too hard" vibe that some places in Lex have (sorry), but there's always a great variety and the flavors are BANGIN.
❤️Staff is always LOVELY and knows what they're doing. People who work here do not seem like they feel the need to be anything other than exactly who they are while they're on the clock. Of course, they're still professional, but are seriously some of the biggest sweetie pies I've ever had the pleasure of being served by. Even with staff changes over the past ~4 years that I've been coming here, this remains true. They really understand connection, coffee, and how to make a fantastic lil bevvie. Almost every time I come in here, if there's more than one person on the bar, they're usually talking like besties while they tackle tasks and are always quick to address customers.
🫂 Atmosphere, vibe, and space is cozy and calm. Lovey aesthetic; feels inspiring and not overdone. Music slaps and is never too loud or quiet. Temperature is always perfectly agreeable, lighting is easy to see in but relaxed and warm. Bathrooms are always super clean and have menstrual products available. Any type of respectful and kind human will feel very welcome here.
💚One of the best "third places" I've ever found, Lussi Brown is where I wanna go when I'm having a bad day and just need to connect with another human and then chill by myself with an iced espresso and journal or draw to decompress.
The owner, Sarah, is SO nice and comes off as very grounded in her profession. It seems like she really values the people who work to make this place as excellent as it is. I emailed her about an opportunity to work with LB, and while they didn't have any positions open, she promptly emailed me back anyways and she was so gracious about it, which just made me love this place even more.
In short: hell yeah, Lussi Brown....
Read moreSo my fiance and I spent some time trying to find a local coffee shop that we can support for a morning coffee today. We chose Lussi Brown because it looked like a nice spot to relax and they had good reviews. We brought along our 4 month old baby. Upon arrival we ordered 2 drinks and a pastry. I took our baby back to get a seat. My fiance stayed to get the drinks. One of the staff members, which looks like one of the owners, said "you, and the baby have to leave." They were getting ready to open the bar. We understand if we have to leave, but please be nice and don't be rude to your customers. Or perhaps, think about how your words and expressions can affect others. Having a bad day is understandable. We are both nurses. And we get it. But, maybe a smile, or something?? We did not see the sign out front. I am sorry if you were having a bad day, but I think customer service should be much better. Plus to top it off, our order was wrong. I specified that I would like a vanilla latte with whole milk. The barrista verified that with us but some how I got one made with oat milk, which I did not want, or like. So I paid for an order that was wrong and was asked to leave in a very short, rude manner. I obviously will not be back, nor will I recommend Lussi Brown to any of our...
Read moreThis is a neat little place on a street all of it's own so depending on the time of day parking can be an issue. When my daughter and I walked in it has a cool first impression although very tight front of house. We ordered a Cold Chai Tea Latte and a Cafe Au Lait. The only questions we were asked was whether we wanted whole milk or something else and whether we were going to sit down. When we stated we would sit down we were asked if my daughter was 21 (she is 18) and was told she couldn't sit inside. (2:30p). This is because they serve Hard Liquors of which is a neat perk to the shop but also a bit unfriendly to anyone under 21. The team there wasn't exactly unfriendly but not exactly friendly either with no small talk even though we were the only ones at the front of the house. It does have some neat spaces as you navigate to the back as well (I had to walk back there on my own). The drinks were okay but nothing Fantastic not sure what kind of coffee is used but it isn't my favorite. I can see that this can be a cool place to grab and after drink while downtown although they close at 8p so you can't be too late. I am a coffee guy not a Hard Liquor one so that's what my rating is tied to. This could be a good...
