McCarthy’s is definitely the quintessential Irish bar in town. Not O’Neill’s or Lynaugh’s, although there’s nothing wrong with either of those spots. McCarthy’s is just better, plus it’s three bars in one! I love having Magner’s and Guinness on draft. They’re always open crazy early for rugby and soccer games. They only have two TVs in the main bar, but that’s usually more than enough. They also have a TouchTunes jukebox, which tends to be a little quiet most of the time. Their best kept secret is the massive back patio that spans the length of the building and is divided up into little cabanas. Definitely more of a college vibe on the weekends.

Best bar in Lexington. Haven’t been there for 13 years but who cares. Most fun I’ve had in my years before or since. Also, I returned the pitchers I snuck out before I left town in 2013. Look carefully by the door. I felt bad for sneaking them out…. But they were quite the prize at the time. I returned them intact. One we actually carried back to our hotel. Homewood suites. That was a walk. Never forget those days and McCarthy’s. Best. Bar. Ever.

Awesome bar. The old guys pub crawl loves this place. They serve beer! We drink beer. Say "hey" to us if you see us. We crawl every week, usually on Thursday or Friday but sometimes on Wednesday or Tuesday, maybe a Monday and occasionally Saturday but have never ruled out a beer day on Sunday.

The only reason I rated it one star is because there is not a choice for no stars. The pictures on the website make this place look amazing and culturally correct. I have been to Irish Pubs across the nation and this is by far the worst one ever. This place was run down. You couldn't even order food from the same place, you had to walk down the block to order food. We had way better service from the food joint. The mexican bartender was not friendly, stayed on phone most of the time and i had to get his attention to order a brew. I had a Guinness and it was warm, not poured correctly. There were only 4 people, including us who was there. I think the ownership needs to take a step back and look into what a REAL irish pub is and go from that. They need to take pointers from places like Molly Malone's and Ri Ra's Pub. Make it authentic and get some real IRISH food and maybe i will come back. Also, the big pink and purple...

I have been missing out on this place for too long. Irish Whiskey, Scotch, Bourbon, beer.....whatever you need. Anything from Paddy to Redbteast 12. I mean you are at an Irish Bar for sweet swaddling baby Jesus sake act like it!! The beer is there also.....jeez. I have read the other reviews, it does not smell, the light is subdued not cave-like, the atmosphere is very nice to me. My wife and I love hanging out and relaxing here. You can also get real Thai food from Nat's here. The Irish Whiskeys actually pair up very nicely with Thai food. The music is good though I wished they played more Irish Folk music traditional or modern. Many Irish also frequent the bar and work here. I love hearing a conversation that is English but that I can't follow until someone goes "fook man"!!!!! It makes me feel at home. Go here, drink...
