We recently enjoyed an anniversary dinner here. The first thing you notice is the beauty of the property. The building, the hardscapes and the grounds are so romantically charming & Southern that you just know you're in for a treat. The restaurant decor is bold and sets the mood for a rich experience. As we were being seated, the host asked us if we were celebrating anything special and we let her know about our anniversary. Once we were seated, a different young lady greeted us with a plaque that said Happy Anniversary and light a little candle for our table. I think that is such a thoughtful touch. Our server explained all the specials and gave us time to look over the drink menu while she got water. When she returned, we had settled on the Seventeen Eighteen, a Blood Orange Martini and crabcakes app. Shortly after we ordered, the drinks arrived and the timing between the drinks and appetizer was enough for us to decide on our entrees and enjoy each others company. The drinks were perfectly balanced and fun. The crabcakes were great and were delivered by yet another new and friendly face. I can admit that trying to decide what to eat was a bit tricky, as every single item on the menu appealed to me . As it was my first time here and they are known for their Cajun & Creole cuisine, I went with the Crawfish Etoufee, adding shrimp to the dish. My husband went with the blackened ribeye. OMG! That etoufee with the dark roux, and those layers of rich crawfish flavor in every bite, had me reminiscing about family dinners in NOLA. It is absolutely delicious! The steak was cooked exactly like my husband asked for it to be, and was melt in your mouth tender. The use of the high temp cast iron, mixed with that seasoning & the chef's technique, creates what I'd say, is the best steak in Lexington. Hands down! The sides were so good and complimentary. Such a wonderful meal ! The whole experience was a delight, nothing felt rushed. Can't wait to go back. Highly...
Read moreGreat food, slow service. Asked to leave after complaining.
Story: My wife and I went here for our anniversary as we like to do for special occasions. Service was slow. It took about 30 minutes for one of the bartenders to notice us flagging them down to refill our drinks.
After our second round, the same thing began happening and we began mentioning the slow service to one another. We were quiet, but started to become increasingly assertive about it. From the looks of the other guests at the bar, we were not the only ones being ignored.
They gave us our food (no drinks) and said that we had been “cut off” since we were “loud, cursing, and had been bragging about how much we had to drink before getting there”. We hadn’t had anything to drink before getting there, so that topic never came up in conversation. We each had two cocktails.
I suspect the bartender overheard us complaining about the service and became offended at our complaints. My wife spoke to the manager who was visibly upset and we were asked to leave.
The bartender then added drinks onto our tab that we hadn’t even ordered. She hadn’t been adding our drinks to our tab as we ordered them and she decided to just make everything up as she cashed us out. She gave me a receipt and I told her about the drinks on the receipt that I had never ordered - she said that she would not take the drinks off the tab but that she would reduce the total amount by more than the cost of the drink. I didn’t really understand the logic behind that so I just paid and left after that.
I had to call up a few days later and mention that we were overcharged for our drinks. They were nice and respectful and gave me a refund for what I had been overcharged.
Hopefully this situation was some sort of unlucky combination of stressed out staff and poor work habits, but I will not be coming here any more. Fortunately, this area has lots of great...
Read moreIf you’re looking for great food… this is the spot! If you’re looking for sub par service… this is also the spot. My wife and I made reservations and showed up a few minutes early. While we were waiting for our table we overheard the hostesses complaining about another party. A waitress approached the hostesses and they very openly exchanged words about yet another table of patrons. After our brief wait, a young woman tried to seat us in what looked like the hallway between two other dining rooms at a high top table. Because of an issue with my back, we asked to be seated at a normal height table for my comfort. The request was met with an eye roll and and the young lady whispering with the hostess. We were sat and order appetizers and drinks. Soon after, our main course was served. The food is absolutely amazing, no complaints. At the end of our meal, our waitress asked us if we had room for dessert (we did not). She had a pitcher of water in one hand and someone else’s half-drank martini glass in the other. She placed the water down and attempted to lay the glass across my plate, flinging the half-drank martini across my shirt and down my leg!! With no more than an “I’m so sorry” she brought us our check and some napkins. I’m not one to make a scene or make someone feel bad about an honest mistake. But in my head. If I was to spill a sticky, fruity martini down someone’s Khakis, I might offer the person a complimentary dessert or take their beer of their bill. Nope just an I’m sorry and have a nice evening. Go for the food, but expect sub par service from a serving staff that from what we observed is mostly teenage girls that could care less about your experience. It was one anniversary dinner that we...
