We had a wonderful time at Red Lobster. We were celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary and had spent the day walking around Berea. Enjoying all the beautiful crafts the artisans there made. On our way back we decided to stop and enjoy some tasty shrimp from Red Lobster. We hadn't eaten anything that day except a little fudge from the candy shoppe. We were starving when we came in and wind blown from having the top down during our drive on one of the best weather days we've had so far this summer/fall. We were greeted with a smile even though we both should have combed our hair before going in. We were shown to a booth and handed our menus. We only needed them for choosing the type of shrimp and sides we wanted. Our order placed. And Marissa delivered our drinks very quickly. We must have looked parched. Along with our drinks came a basket of their lip smacking biscuits. Oh, I could truly founder on those alone. The salads arrived next, a house for me and a Caesar for my husband. These to were delicious, everything fresh and cold and crunchy. Yummy! Now we waited for the main course. We had barely put our forks down from the salad when the entrees were served. Cautioned on how hot the plate was didnt sink into my head fast enough to stop myself from touching it. Guess what? It was hot. Duh on me. Lol. I started with shrimp linguine, and teriyaki glazed shrimp. Oh my they were both good but the teriyaki was my favorite. The teriyaki glaze didnt overpower the delicate flavor of the shrimp, and just gave a nice warm, sweet flavor to the shrimp. The glaze was so good I took my biscuit and cleaned up the sauce off the plate. They probably wouldn't have liked me to lick the plate so this was my other option. Our server, Marissa, was just a wonderful girl. She gave advise when we ask about things and showed concerns if we weren't happy. I had a small problem with the shrimp linguine cause the shrimp weren't deveined. But the noodles and alfredo sauce were superb. As she steadily brought back skewer after skewer of shrimp for us she did it will a smile, and a refill on our drinks that were only half gone. That was sweet cause a lot of places wait till your out before bringing another one. Close to the end of.our meal we noticed she had a tattoo on her right wrist and we ask about it. This started a conversation about how many each person has and who in town does the best work. She took pity on my husband who was looking like he might explode at any minute so she brought a Togo container for the few pieces we couldn't finish pluse those tasty biscuits. So if you are in Hamburg shopping and feel like some good seafood stop over to the Red Lobster there and sit in Marissas' area. She will take great...
Read moreMy mother called Teresa and I up Friday afternoon for an impromptu evening out....so off to Lexington, 30 miles away, we went to Red Lobster.
What a disappointment from the drinks forward...my single of Jameson’s over ice took forever to reach the table; by the time it arrived it should have been called “Jameson’s in ice water”.
Years ago they changed their Calamari appetizer to include battered and fried peppers and broccoli heads; in what was obviously a cost saving measure at the time for them, to charge the same for the item with a fewer amount of Calamari on the plate...it was tasty! It’s actually the only way I will touch broccoli, and I always love the true baby squid on the plate; but that is gone now. The Calamari they served was limp, the vegetables were sparse, and the batter was bland. We even had to ask for the item because it wasn’t even listed on the menu...who runs a seafood restaurant without Calamari on their menu?
We also ordered the stuffed mushrooms; I say “stuffed mushrooms” because the menu used to call them “crab and lobster stuffed mushrooms”. I’m not sure what they were stuffed with but it wasn’t crab nor lobster...certainly not both. They had a sickly sweet flavor to them that came from a new mix of cheeses that was Completely unappealing.
We didn’t finish either appetizer, and sent the Calamari back mostly uneaten...
When the house dinner salads were delivered...they were full of iceberg ends, no color, no flavor....mine didn’t even have any cherry tomatoes in it. Teresa gave me her lone cherry tomato from her salad...and it was frozen in the center. The croutons were hard as cinder blocks.
We all ordered the “ultimate feast”; Mom and Teresa had a baked potato with theirs. Sadly they both had to send the potatoes back because they were served so cold the butter wouldn’t melt.
I had the Langostino lobster mashed potatoes; in the menu photograph it shows the lobster being mixed throughout the dish; mine was served, cold, with 4 little lobsters that were tougher than shoe leather.
The bright spot of the evening was our server; he was courteous and apologetic, even though it wasn’t his fault...he didn’t cook the food. But as always it’s the server who takes the brunt of the patrons disappointment.
Sadly, Teresa and I get too few opportunities to enjoy evenings out; especially when any real semblance of seafood is to be obtained, and unless there are some serious quality control measures put in place, along with some serious rethinking on the menu changes...we won’t be...
Read moreWe visited this Red Lobster(Hamburg location in Lexington, KY) at around 3:30 PM on a Saturday afternoon. As soon as we came through the door, the hostess, (Arianna) greeted us with a smile and was so polite and attentive to what we were requesting (booth seating) and noticed our daughter had a baby doll and included her doll with our party, which (made us 4 instead of 3) was Amazing! Right after being seated (in a booth), our server, Zach came up and introduced himself and asked about going ahead and getting us drinks. We placed our drink order and he brought them right out lickety split. He was very polite also and patient, as I had several questions about the new menu. He was able to answer all of my questions, by either knowing or checking on it for me. He did a Fantastic job on keeping our drinks filled or topped off and checking on us regularly to see if there was anything we needed at that moment. Before our food arrived, I had to go outside and the hostess (Arianna) was holding the door for an elderly man that was having trouble walking out even though he had a cane, he was struggling. She patiently held the door for him and made sure that he was okay getting out of the restuatant. That to me was a shining moment for the restaurant to hire a person who is caring and helps however they can. It seems way too often that everyone is about not going that extra mile and helping someone else out. So, Kudos to this Red Lobster for hiring someone of such character! The Atmosphere (of caring people), Service, & food is what will DEFINITELY bring us back to this location! So, if you are looking for some Good food with a GREAT atmosphere & GREAT service, you should check this location out. If your hostess happens to be Arianna, don't be afraid to let her know how Wonderful she is. Also, don't forget to ask for Zach, as you will get Outstanding service...
