Disappointing First Impression Due to Poor Customer Service

We recently visited this restaurant with high hopes of trying something new and supporting a local business. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the moment we walked in.

Upon entering, we were not greeted or acknowledged in any way. We waited patiently for 4–5 minutes at the front counter, only to finally be told—without any warmth or courtesy—that we could “order whenever we wanted,” as if we were somehow holding things up. It felt dismissive and unwelcoming.

As we began to place our order, a man who appeared to be a manager completely ignored us mid-interaction to assist another customer who had walked in after us, regarding a billing issue. While we understand the need to resolve customer concerns, abruptly abandoning a guest in the middle of ordering is simply unprofessional.

We stood there for another 5 minutes, during which several staff members were visibly standing around, watching us, yet no one offered assistance or even acknowledged our continued presence. At that point, it became clear that our business was not a priority, and we made the decision to leave.

We had genuinely looked forward to giving this restaurant a try, but the lack of basic hospitality and attentiveness left a very poor impression. Made my first trip to Richies tonight. Ordered a Whiting sandwich and some wings. Food was tasty and inexpensive. The fish sandwich was a huge piece of fish on a small bun. Could have made 3 sandwiches if I had two more buns. The reason I gave it 3 stars was just because the piece of fish had ALL the bones still in it. I don't know if that's normal here but I've never been served a sandwich that way before so was not expecting it and bit right in. Had to spend 5 minutes dissecting it before I could even try to eat it without choking on bones. Should really come with a warning... but again, aside from being put off by the bones in the fish it was all good. Changing my 5 star review to a 1 after my past experiences. We were regular weekly/biweekly customers and always enjoyed the food but last trip they forgot our wedges for the family meal and I brought to their attention today and they refused to make it right! I would buy family meals for our work crew spending an average of $50-60 each week or every other week. I work in the retail business and if something isn't right you make it correct or at least apologize and show some sort of empathy. I would think they would at least recognize me and remember that we buy quite a bit of food and I wouldn't lie about $5 wedges when I spend $50-60. Oh well..There is plenty of other chicken joints that would value...
