Update 7.9.2025: I saw the "Everyday Deals" online and wanted to get the "$12 Pork & Rib Combo". My husband went through the drive thru and made the order. We didn't realize until he got home that they charged for the "Pick 2 combo". I priced up both with the same including premium sides. The "12 Pork & Rib Combo" is $13.50 while the "Pick 2 combo" priced out with ribs and the premium side is $17.99. They are essentially the same meal, they just charged me $4.50 more by not giving me the "Everyday Deal". Not okay.
Update 5.1.2025: My take out reviews in the past have not been good. It has been a while since we went to this restaurant so we decided to give it another try. We ordered online for pickup. Another bad experience. This was the third take out order in a row that was wrong. We got the redneck egg rolls and they were missing the sauce (just like last time). I also ordered okra (which is a premium side so I paid extra) and that was also not in the order. They have a receipt on the bag with items highlighted showing the order was checked. (The order was obviously not checked) IF YOU GET TAKE OUT BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR ORDER.
Update 9.11.2024: The last two take our orders we received had items missing. Tonight we ordered the redneck egg rolls and the peach cobbler eggrolls along with other items. The eggrolls were supposed to come with Smokin' Ranch and the peach cobbler eggrolls were supposed to come with whipped cream. We received neither.
Update 12.30.2023: We have gone to Sonny's about three times since my previous post. Both the service and the quality of food have greatly improved.
Update: It had been a few months since we tried Sonny’s so we tried to give them another shot. That was a mistake. We were there for an hour and a half and most of it was spent waiting. We waited to be seated because there wasn’t a hostess. A waitress sat us and took our drink order but those took about ten minutes to arrive. Once we ordered it took over thirty minutes for our food to arrive. A table came and sat down while we were waiting and they got their food even before we received ours. When it did arrive the meat on neither plate was warm. It felt like it hadn’t even been heated. There was also hardly any breading on the Okra. You could see the green of the okra almost completely. One positive was that the waitress was very nice and genuine. We will be making the drive to the Richmond location from now on.
Previous Post: We were so excited to hear that Sonny's was coming to Lexington. Unfortunately, we have tried it several times and every time there has been an issue. When I got the brisket grilled cheese the bread was super soggy. Another time, we got take out and had ordered online. We didn't get the order until 30 minutes past the stated time and it was cold. Most recently, we went in and waited nearly 10 minutes before a waitress came over. We were just about to walk out. Also, the baked...
Read moreFood is good, the atmosphere is clean, calm and spacious. Prices are fair. This is my third time here. Service was great at my first two visits. This evening, not good. The young lady misinformed me and this caused me not to get what I was expecting to get at the price I paid and she offered nothing to make it right. Honestly, I wouldn't have taken anything if she offered but imthe fact that she didn't try or even pretend to care and she never came back out. She sent other people to finish the job as though I wasn't worth her effort. let me explain how she misinformed me. You have the option to get their St. Louis rib plate, which comes with two sides and a piece of bread. Or there pick two plate which comes with whatever two meats you choose, two sides, and a piece of bread. On the pick two, you get six ribs. Six bones. The price for both options is like a $.25 difference. So I asked her on the St. Louis plate how many pieces do you get and she said eight bones. I was hoping that it would at least come with six where it would be about the same but I wasn’t sure but she said eight! I got five bones. When she came out, I said hey was this supposed to have eight, I only got five. She said oh I’ve only been here two months and I don’t really know stuff like that. Sorry that’s why I said, I think. then she said, let me know if you need anything else, but she never came back out until I was leaving. There was another young lady close by sweeping and cleaning up another table right next to me and I know she...
Read moreYou would think that a business as new as this one is would not have the kind of problems that my husband and I experienced this evening. I asked him to stop and pick us up some Sonny's BBQ and what a mistake. He was the only one in the drive through line other than a woman waiting behind him. He had placed his order and was waiting at the window. He was privy to the woman behind him in line's phone conversation, who had called Sonny's and asked why she had to wait since she had placed her order on line and it was supposedly ready. They brought her food out to her and she left. After waiting 30 minutes after placing his order and receiving his receipt that had a time stamp, he finally out of frustration, knocked on their window. They tried to excuse his wait by saying it was only 9 minutes, but he showed them it had been 30, and our food was given to him. No apology for him having to wait so long, just a little annoyed that he had bothered them by knocking on the window. The food was sub par, skimpy portions on the meat, and the sweet potato had to have been a reheated from yesterday. Not only did I get maybe a 1/3 cup of pulled pork at the most, part of it had gristle and big chunks of fat. I would not recommend this place AT ALL. They weren't even busy, and now we know why. I've eaten at the Sonny's in Somerset, the Sonny's in Richmond and both of them were so much better than this location, makes me wonder if they are even the...
