We were in the area for a baseball game. Tried to find a nearby “neighborhood” spot. Gianni’s was a 4 minute drive from the park. They had decent reviews. The menu looked great for our family. Why not give it a try? When we entered at 2:30, I was nervous that we made a mistake. The place was empty! But we were warmly greeted by a gentleman who seemed to be the only employee. He set the pace for us. Food and service were excellent! We commented on the delicious bread. I assumed it was from a nearby bakery. Our server told us it was homemade. They had a baker come in to make bread, pizza dough, and desserts. I do think I may have forgotten one other thing. We had crisp fresh salads to start our meal. I had very very delicious egg plant Parmesan. One of the kids ordered a child’s pizza. He loved it. We also ordered a deep dish pizza, pasta with clams, chicken Parmesan, and fettuccine Alfredo. We all agreed the food was delicious and portions huge. Everyone took home leftovers. Sadly no room for dessert. I guess we’ll just have to go back. In addition, a waitress did come in to help the lone employee. Also, by time we left the place was getting busier. I can understand and agree with the great reviews. If we find ourselves in the area again, I will...
Read moreJudging from the other reviews our experience must have been an anomaly. The service could not have been better, unfortunately, the food could not have been much worse. I ordered the chicken picatta, and my friend got the eggplant parmesan. My chicken was rubbery and the sauce thin and watery. It tasted, overall, like rancid fat. My friend's eggplant parmesan tasted freezer burnt. Her marinara sauce was not very flavorful. The staff was so sweet and accommodating. They wanted to know what our specific complaints were and offered to make us something else. We were facing a 3-hour drive home and didn't have the time to wait for replacements. They didn't charge us for the few bites we had tried. If they hadn't been so nice I would only have given them 1 star. We ended up grabbing some burgers at BK where the service was horrendous but the burgers were good - total...
Read moreWe arrived at 5:20 pm, and ordered an extra thin pizza for dine in. We were served our beverages and bread a few minutes later. Then nothing for an hour. No thin crust pizza.
At 6:35 I got up asked the waitress where our order was, and she said I'm sorry, they are busy with to go orders. There was only 3 tables with customers there the whole time. About 15 to go orders left during the time we waited.
The dining room had no ambiance to it. It was noisy like a cafeteria, which is odd since it was almost empty. The music and decor was a weird choice for an Italian restaurant too.
It takes less than 15 minutes to make a 14" thin crust 1 ingredient pizza. We were there in the near empty dining room for an hour and 20 minutes. Finally we had to leave at 6:40 without getting our dinner. I will never be back, even if...
